OMG, am furious on your behalf about your wages.
Goblin is seriously stacking up some negative karma.....she's gonna get what's due to her!
I can't wait for tomorrow to be over. My job has gone really rubbish at the moment and I've got Friday off to go to my cousin's wedding so I'm on a 4 day wekk!!!:beer:I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -
Hello again & thanks for the support :A
My back is ok for short periods of time in one position, but moving is not so good. I have no intention of going in to work tomorrow in my current condition as past experience with this problem has taught me to just accept it & rest until healed again. I kind of blame myself though as I really should know by now that getting stressed, angry & tensed up will always manifest itself in some way.
Sorry to hear you're having a rubbish time at work makeup :grouphug: but yay for a 4 day week & a wedding too :j- hope it all goes beautifully.
The bonus of being bed bound for most of the day is that I have read both my subscription mags from cover to cover & a large chunk of a book I've been meaning to read for ages. The downside is that I've eaten quite a lot of rubbish including an entire box of odd chocolates that my Dad brought back from a recent trip. The blurb inside the box is just so brilliant that I'm going to share it with you :
" We congratulate you for your care of your health and gusto by preferring quality of 'Gulluoglu Faruk Gullu' in the traditional Turkish delicious ...

Fantastic - a real tonic
DD has reprimanded me a few times about not having taken the care of my health & gusto
Dad keeps reminding me to take care of my financial future & along with the chocs brought me a bundle of info on investments, pensions, isas etc _pale_.
It makes my eyes bleed. For goodness sake, it's taken the best part of 20 years to learn how to budget for minor & not too far in the future events like an mot & car tax, he is not aware of the CC debts & that my budget is all wrapped around getting them paid off asap for the next 6 months.
I also have real issues with a pension that I scrimp to pay into for the next 20 years & may or may not live long enough to receive the benefit & can only get an annuity from that cannot be passed on to my children if I die. It was tough explaining how I feel about this to him, but essentially as my pension forecast states that I am likely to be working until I'm 67& as my mum was just a year older when she died, if I discovered that I only had a year to live, I'd rather spend that year having fun & then be able to pass on whatever was left to my DDs.
I have no property or partner & do admit that I need to prepare something for the future, but just cant bear the thought of having to make a decision yet, need to clear CC first.
I'm about to seize up again so best head back to bed. Will catch up with all diaries soon ( & make my confession)
bye for now

Lula sorry about your back but glad you're on here again, I've missed you!
I have a webpage (needs pics) and may soon be doing some styling on the side as well as my own job which is exciting. Own job is grand but I am out of the clothes challenge. I too will confess soon! Oh and I am also pensionless. As I have no man or child I may rent all my life and spend the excess on shoes as I wish!!!! Good to have you back and XXX'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
Lula, you sound like you're in absolute agony, you poor thing - I hope you feel a bit better tomorrow - maybe you overdid the gardening, as well as the getting angry stuff? Do hot baths help, or is it way beyond that?
As far as pensions go, I've decided that everything I get from dfw work is going to go into a different account from what it used to go in - I'm renaming it my pension account. It won't be nearly enough of course, and I'm a fair bit older than you anyway, but its a (re)start to my pension efforts. We'll see where it gets me in six months ...2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Lula - sounds like a good day (although obv not good having back ache.....)
When my back is bad, I find sitting on a fit ball really helpful. It really helps to stablise and stretch out my back but in a really gentle way.
I normally roll back and forth on the ball (ie moving pelvis back and forth) and maybe from side to side.
I find it really helps and is much more comfortable to sit on than slumped on the sofa.
I didn't pay much for my fit ball - I think I got it from decathlon for about a fiver or so. Sometimes they have them in Tesco as well.
Anyway, obv all depends on what is up with your back but that really helps me!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

Sorry to hear about your back LULA....hope it starts to ease soon
You may be better with a life insurance policy in order to leave something for DD if you die.
As far as pensions go I know nothing and have nothing but am just planning on saving in Isas etc as I have never trusted these pensions due to the amount of fees they take.I may not be about to collect a pension anyway.0 -
:shhh:Hello again,
I'm quite glad to be back too - although it would be preferable if it wasnt under these cirucmstances.
I woke up this morning feeling as bad as yesterdaybut once I'd had nurofen & coffee for breakfast & packed DD off to school I soaked for about an hour in a hot bubble bath which was very relaxing & soothing. It also enabled me to take full adavantage of the 20% off sale at Dorothy Perkins :shhh: but as we all know, there's 5% cashback via Quidco so that's perfectly acceptable
. As I'm home tomorrow waiting for DDs fruniture to be delivered, I thought I may as well spend an extra £1 & have next day delivery ... which then got me to thinking about the lovely suede high wedge ankle boots I saw in New Look recently ... next thing you know I've just earned myself about £12 quidco cashback by doing a spot of online injury therapy.
I know, I'm so badbut as I now shop 'seasonally' then I know that these items will either be perfectly fabulous & worn daily ... or be rubbish & returned asap.
No longer worried about a pension; as long as I learn to ebay before I retire, I can sell my shoe collection as 'vintage' items.
Actually, ebaying is definitely heading this way. I've been offered some help with buying a new laptop & have now accumulated over £50 worth of Boots points & am about to add a few more to my total, thanks to receving some fab offers in the post. I'm borrowing Sarahb's idea of saving them for a digi camera so as soon as both camera & lappie are in my possession, I can start selling.
Cant remember if I mentioned wanting Alys Fowlers book, but anyway I now have it & all this wet weather should have softened the ground up enough for me to make a start on digging over a small veg patch. It is incredibly frustrating that it's warm & sunny outside & yet I'm trapped here in this old crones body . I've been saving these great oval shaped recycled yoghurt pots which will be perfect for growing seeds in & my dad has some acrylic sheets which I can use to cover DDs old wardrobe frame to turn it into a green house. I will be using some of the paving slabs I acquired for free to stand it on.
I would much prefer to use containers to do all my planting but cant afford to buy a load in one go as I'm an aesthete & want natural-looking wooden ones rather than cheap bright plastic tubs & I also really like the idea of polyculture that Alys talks about, which is using different plants which complement, protect & nurture eachother & also takes up much less space. We wont have a lot to start with, just a few potatoes, some peas, courgettes, leeks, maybe some corn & more of the fruits we already have; raspberries, strawberries & blackcurrants. It needs to be fun & engaging rather than a chore.
I'm aching again, so must get horizontal for a while before DD comes home, did have a fit ball makeup -think it got puncutred, so will definitely try to find another one soon.
bye for now
xx0 -
I love Alys Fowler! I've got some of the episodes I taped onto DVD, but the rest, I couldn't even see them on iplayer. If you want to know some of the background to polyculture, just have a little google of "permaculture" - short for permanent agriculture". It all got a bit holier than thou, but its really interesting.
I really hope your back feels better soon, Lula.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
