Brilliant news. Sounds like you are in the right place and I shall be watching / cheering / encouraging from the sidelines and hoping to pick up some of your fab tips.
Yes, I will be having a lodger. It wasn't something I was looking for but had vaguely thought about it. Then an old friend sent a big email out to everyone as she is doing her PGCE at a Uni just down the road from me and needs somewhere to live this academic year.
It seemed like the perfect opportunity. It is time limited - she is only here til next June and I know her well enough to know that we get on but so not so well that if we fall out over this it would cause massive problems in the rest of my life.
I have tons of plans for my flat and this extra cash will help me realise some of them.
I went to Argos yesterday and bought a bed for her, I have another friend staying with me at the moment and we lugged them both half the way and then I rolled the mattress the rest of the way and she enlisted a couple of men to carry the bed...
Was hard work but saved having the hassle of waiting in for deliveries etc.I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -

No, I wont be counting down each day :rotfl:.
It is so lovely to come here & see all these lovely posts, You lot really are so fab I love you all :grouphug:. No, that wasnt an invitation to some dodgy suburban antics.
My carefully thought out plan went very wrong last night. I had the worst night in months. The last time I had such disturbed sleep was in the middle of Project Stress when I thought the Evil Goblins were out to get me. I had a banging headache, I was hot, couldnt get comfortable, got up to go to the bathroom like an old person
, my mind was racing & then just as I dropped off about 5 the cat started trying to break out through the catflap.
It was dreadful night & I woke up feeling really rubbish & have to confess that I think half of the problem was the Gordon I had. Maybe alcohol just doesnt agree with me anymore . The other half of the problem seemed to be worrying about home-job today but then turned out that I am coming down with a cold .
Anwyay, I still did my mini exercise routine & got on with the day. Amazingly, the home-job work load turned up just after 9 :T. The usual driver is on hol so I was very impressed with having an early start so just got on with it. It wasnt as hideous as I was expecting & I have earned DDs clubs & pocket money, entertainment money & £8 of groceries.
The pretty wellies I bought from ebay arrived today - just in time as it's now pouring - & they are fab & so comfortable too. The ones I ordered for DD arrived as well so we are now both kitted out. She loves them so much that she insisted on wearing them all day.
The pet insurance renewal arrived & although I searched for about an hour for a decent priced one to swap to for the cashback, they were all £3 a month more & only offering £20 cashback so not worth it.
I have been a good mummy & sewed on 6 nametapes for her new uniform bits & I'va also made half her lunch for tomorrow as well. Sometimes I scare myself.
Because Vodafone decided not to take the direct debit last month I have a bill for £28 this month, but I'm still managing to stay within my minutes. I've looked into increasing the minutes as I have so many texts that never get used - clearly dont have enough friends to get through 500 a month - but the next tarif only gives me another 30 minutes & cost £30 a month. I'll stick to my £10 tarif & yak less & text more I think.
I'm supposed to be in bed by 11 so had better go now & attempt to catch up on the sleep. Not looking forward to going back to be honest as I wont know what on earth is going on & that wages fiasco will probably have created a bit of an atmosphere.
Bollox to them, I'm Lula & Fabulous(& on a mission)
Will catch up with everyones diaries tomorrow (must also update Clothes Challenge again - so slack)
night night

Lula - you are doing magnificently well, sorry to hear that you have a lurgy though. I am feeling rather old and decrepit today, my back is killing me and I have just had to take an ibruprofen to see if that helps. I did myself a mischief at the Autumn Fair yesterday because if I stand for long periods or amble about slowly then it stiffens and I have to sit down rather gingerly until my back eases. Well I got shouted about by some stupid bimbo yesterday for daring to sit on a comfy-ish chair when I was not a member of the stupid organisation she was representing - they had around 12 tables and chairs and not one of them was being used by a member. She was quite rude about it and could easily have said that I could sit there until I felt better but instead she stood over me until I moved. I can barely move today as a result:mad:
Have had an eventful morning - my loo has been leaking for a while and last night tomcat woman from downstairs came up to tell me that her bathroom ceiling was now mouldy because of me and that she had arranged for the landlords chimps to come round and fix it - I had already spoken to the chimps and so they came today. Am a bit confused though because there was an empty mop bucket in the bathroom but instead of draining water into that they drained it into my wastebin which was full of cardboard rolls, cotton buds etc - I only noticed when I emptied the bin into the black bag and wondered why I got wet:mad: The loo has been fixed now so we shall wait and see how long it is before it breaks again.
Took some stuff to the charity shop today and went to tatco and bought some much needed filtered milk (the corner shop have stopped selling it) and some other bits and I got myself a bunch of flowers which had been reduced. My kettle packed up on Sunday - I discovered this as I made myself a mug of coffee and I wondered why it was stone cold, so I had to order a new one from Lakeland although I cannot complain about the old one because it was 5 years old.0 -
Hello gorgeous people -
Horace - I cant believe that mean woman  Hope you feel better tomorrow & that nothing else in the household breaks for a while.
Just a flying visit from me as it's already past my new bedtime - I'm badbut I need to keep on top of this new regime.
Work job = fine - everyone else meg stressed but it all wafted over my head & I just wandered about sprinkling happy dust & lovin peace vibes to all . This may not be so easy tomorrow when both Grumpy & Gropey are back in the office (turns out they are the source of nearly everyones grievances ) :rotfl:
Home job was truly heinous & I didnt finish until 10.30 but I have earned another £40 towards the food budget - which obviously I wont need all of so will either put it towards DDs birthday party or Barclaycard.
My cold is irksome; my head aches, I can taste nothing & my nose is sore. I only managed the 15 minute workout again today but that's better than nowt. I've made DDs lunch for tomorrow, had my bath & am now off to bed.
Sorry - I promise to catch up with everyone else soon - although probably not til thursday now as tomorrw could be even more hideous
Ooh 'nother bit of good news ; I thought my payslip looked abit wrong so checked it out & I didnt add my overtime up right so am now owed about £90 - which I'll add on to this months wages :j
Hee Hee

Tis' true, I have just paid the final outstanding £80 to Barclaycard
. It's not actually that exciting as I have already paid it off at least once before & then used it again () but it does mean I now just have the Virgin CC to deal with so the debt is now £3,500 (again :rotfl:)
I cannot really tell you what has been going on this week as I've been such a work zombie. Thankfully all the being orgainsed with getting the home & all chores, shopping & washing up to date before the onslaught has paid off & I managed with a fair amount of help from DD with the drying up & putting away of all washing up :A . She's been really good with amusing herself after school too, helped by the fact that she is as shell shocked & exhausted by the new term as I am with work.
I nearly cried yesterday when she handed me a pile of letters from the school with numerous dates to organise things, pay for things, provide things & attend. It's just so overwhelming but I just thought I cant actually deal with this right now so left it until today & have now sorted through it all :
Her year group meeting on thursday at 2.30 so I need to ask if I can leave work early.
Class assembley on friday so I need to provide a costume & attend.
Road cyle training in 2 weeks so can I pay £20 immediately.
New club starts tomorrow so can I pay £25 immediately.
School trip in 3 weeks - payment must be due soon.
Dress up for history day in 4 weeks - costume needed.
After half term there's a christmas lunch to pay for,
school photographs to pay for.
2 x mufti days with associated donations of cash, selling raffle tickets & providing items for the christmas fayre.
Trip to the pantomime to pay for.
Not sure I feel much better after going through it.
Anywya, the ome job has been such hard work - not finishing until 10.30 each night but it means I dont get a chance to spend anything & I managed to pay inot all my cash funds & then pay another £45 not the bank which is how I managed to clear the Barclaycard. I thought I had to leave cahs in there for the final car insurance payment, then remembered that it's coming out of my old account so had enough to cover it.
Since then I have remebered that the cat is having its injections tomorrow & I have no idea how much they will cost ?
I've been really good with food this week; making sure I use up leftovers & dont waste stuff. I kept £25 out of my home-job wages towards groceries for the week & when we popped in to the co op this afternoon & I spent a massive £4.75 on potatoes, olive oil spread & coffee so the total amount spent on Groceries so far is £66.05.
We'll be popping to Waitrose over the weekend as they have very kindly sent me a voucher for a freebie box of Duchy Originals butter shortbread :T. I am thinking these will be a very nice christmas present for someone. I am still using the reduced-to-25p loaf of long life bread I picked up last sunday & it is perfectly fine for toasting - I will be looking out for more of those .
Need my bed now so will finish catching up on rest of diaries tomorrow ( Souk - sorry it's been ages, forgive me please)
night night

WOW..thats some stuff the school expects you to pay for/attend to and not much notice either!!!!
You are doing fantastic on the debt front .0 -
Wow Lula..are you sure that DD goes to a normal school and not a private one? That sure is a whole pile of stuff you need to provide cash etc for.
I have an idea for history day..let your DD wear fairly normal but plain-ish clothes get a small cardboard box with a lid attach some string to it so that it loops over her head, get a brown luggage tag and pin that to her clothes and she can go as an evacuee.
My washing machine is now fixed (not sure if I mentioned it) and my new kettle arrived on Wednesday, its fab and boils a lot quicker than the old one and it has a nice blue light on it which lights up when you switch the kettle on but it goes off when it has boiled. The loo is fixed too.
This weekend I am changing all my prices, updating my blog and I am starting to look at affiliate links so that I can make money from my website and maybe I will set up an online shop to sell wedding favours. Methinks there is something wrong with me because I had a wedding enquiry the other day which came to nothing but instead of feeling disappointed, I felt relieved, the only input I want into anything weddingy these days is the favours. I am busy with my corporate stuff and I feel more passionate about it and I am earning money from it.
I have been fairly stressed this week after having some fairly major disagreements with people, so I have started comfort eating again (why are Tunnocks Teacakes so flippin' moreish?)
I found out too that my road will be closed when the Pope visits, if I want to go out then I have to take a utility bill with me to show as proof of my address.
Must admit I am feeling slightly envious of free stuff from Waitrose - they stopped sending me vouchers ages ago.0
