Assuming that your daughter's of school leaving age, there's no extra funding that I know of as this is considered to be part of her normal education and she isn't actually an adult.
You'll be able to carry on claiming CB and CTC for her and she'll be able to claim EMA if you're on a low income. There may be help with providing a bus pass bu the college will be able to tell you about that.0 -
Thankyou for your replies
She is 18 now and has worked p/t for the last 2 years. If i claim cb and ctc when will it stop?0 -
Daughter has been accepted on the course. It is 20 hours a week.
However as i have said she has aspergers syndrome and may need some help. She is gonna get support in the classroom which is brilliant as she was statemented in school and she also receives dla.
A woman at the job centre told me if she studies less than 21 hours there was a benefit she could claim but i can remember what it was. Any ideas??0 -
Glad to hear that your daughter's getting the help she needs.
If she's studying part time she may be eligible for JSA if she's actively seeking work. Does this sound like what was suggested?0 -
Hello,
Regarding assistance with travel, I suggest you look into the Concessionary Travel Scheme.
Wales seems to operate it's own scheme, and each council would administer it.
Like in England, it offers free travel on buses, and locally there may be other discounts.
Both of my children, ages 19 and 13 use the scheme.
As, like your daughter, they have Asperger's Syndrome, and I apply under the criteria of 'Learning Disability'.
You may need to use google to find your local scheme, but just to provide you with some information, this is the scheme that Wrexham operate.

Thanks for that both thats really helpfall.
Yes i think it was JSA the only thing is i was thinking is how can she be actively seeking work if she is in college??? Doesnt she have to have interviews and sign on every week or something? Just wondered how she will do this if she is in college?0 -

If it was JSA that was suggested then she would have to continue to sign on and be actively seeking work. She would also have to be prepared to leave college if she got a job.
However, I see that she would be in college for 20 hours a week which would be counted as full time and make her ineligible for JSA anyway. Are you sure about the 20 hours; it seems a great deal of time for such a basic course?0
