1899 still charge (using BT line) at peak rate to another uk landline - 3p connection, then 0p/min0 -
I've had a 1899 account for longer than 18866 but stopped using it when 18866 came out at 1p. Anyway, I realised that if I did not let the 1899 account get to £1 I would never get an invoice - and I didn't (It's at '96p' still).
Assuming the same thing happens at 18866 one could perhaps make 19 'free' calls with 18866 and then ditch it (but not actually cancel) just shy of £1 and then reactivate 1899 and carry on using that. Breaks even after 29 calls. [Just a thought:rolleyes:].....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
Hi, well I am behind the times, only noticed today that 18866 has gone to 5p, it was a 1p when I started, so had a look on here to see what you were all doing, so have just signed on to 1899 at 3p, I cannot understand if they are the same company, why there is such a difference? I hope that it is still the same ie connection 3p then as long as you like? I think I read all the small print!!
Cheers oap0 -
I decided to check my dormant account today as I was sure there was still a small amount owing since defecting to the sister company 1899.com. I was surprised to see they had upped their minimum connection charge to 5p. Wondered if anyone else had spotted this, or have most missed it with being on 1899? Haven't spotted another thread on this so apologies if I have missed it.0

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

1899 will go up. You mark my wordsThe measure of love is love without measure0

It probably will eventually, but I remember when 18866 first put their price up to 4p. Most people thought 1899 would within a few weeks, but here we are, still at 3p.0
