Is there a known problem with facebook?

PC is working fine, loaded new memory a few weeks ago - & had a v& box installed with upgraded speed on internet - I have no ptorlem with any site, all the pages load really fast except facebook - it can be 30 secs to 1 min for each page to load - any thoughts on this??

In Firefox:
Tools -> Clear private data
In IE:
Tools->Internet Options -> General -> Browsing History -> Delete

Can I just nip in here with a Q about clearing your cache & cookies, if you do that will you lose all the saved passwords and direct access to the websites without faffing about with having to login?

Passwords - no (assuming you don't click the clear password button or have this option ticked in IE)
Direct access e.g. here - yes

i find that sometimes but i put it down to various parts of the world waking up and logging on and coming home from work/college etc and logging on to facebook. rather than being an internet provider issue

well I cleared all the cookies etc but to no avail - my facebook is practically unusable - & I only use it to chat etc I don't play any games

Wow no insults about FB. There was the BBC report on dodgy 3rd party applications stealing personal details and your friends personal details. FB said they have sorted this but who knows.

Download CCleaner and try that.

You could also try cleaning your items in prefetch.

Which is why you shouldn't add any app to your FB page, unelss you are 100% sure you want / need the flexibility and it's safe.

So many idiots, just add anything that's offered of "friends" have, quizzes and all sorts of rot, really I find it hard to have sympathy for them.
