I got my last two pairs or walking boots from Milletts in their sale. Can't remember the make but one pair was £16.99 and the other £19.99. If you've got small feet, you may even be able to go to the children's sizes which are even cheaper. I did that for some of those open shoes with the velcro flaps for going in the water with and they were only £7.69 in the sale. Bargain.0

Lucie wrote:You need a decent pair of walking shoes/trainers with good cushioning. Walking on pavements is very unforgiving as they are so hard. A good option is a pair of outdoor trainers, as opposed to "normal" trainers. They are more rugged than trainers, tend to be in darker colours (show less dirt than white ones) and have good grips on the soles. They are not as "formal" as a traditional walking boot & are usually shoes rather than boots.
I agree, look for trainers like this.
Mine are by Columbia, from an "outdoor" type shop. Really comfortable.
I find I need to set a specific time each day to go for my walk and stick to it otherwise its all to easy to get out of the habit.
Its a good inexpensive way of keeping fit. It certainly keeps my weight down.0 -
For walking on roads/pavement I think Ecco http://www2.ecco.com/ss2006/ are really comfy.
I do a lot of walking (can't afford tube fares at the moment) and find these better than normal trainers and stuff. They cost a lot at full price but it is often possible to get really good deals in sales and stuff.

Last time I was in Lidl's they had some reasonable looking walking boots and shoes at a very reasonable price.
They also had walking poles at a sensible price to, using them makes you exercise you arms as well as legs.My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

I do a lot of walking, mainly walking my dog but also walk to work (about a mile). At the moment I wear trainers but am looking at getting walking boots for the dog walking. I really need something waterproof and I don't find wellies at all comfortable0

I walk 3 miles everyday with a double buggy..to take my son to/from Nursery. It is too far for him to walk and he often grabs 40 winks too, he's pooped after playing for 2.5 hours!
Only started doing it about a month ago and I feel great afterwards and I am sure I have lost a bit of weight. :j
Wonder how many steps on my freebie All Bran pedometer that is?
I just wear my trusty trainers which I have had for oh..about 6 years now but they don't smellThey are Sketchers and cost £50 but they have now clocked up many miles!

I skim-read your message and thought you meant you were going to get walking boots for your dog.

I wear MBT shoes. Expensive but I wear them everwhere and they are hard-wearing. They exercise me more than just walking and they keep backache away
