Aww come on guys, we had a nice thread discussing something and then you have to divert it to talk about sockies, slights, who someone may be etc.

    Worse than my kids!

Shall we investigate the source icon7.gif

Exactly my thoughts... waiting patiently for StevieJ (aka Jonny Bravo) to respond...

Well, as I say to my children, ignore it!
We are all grown ups aren't we?
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

So tell us, StevieJ, are the actual things he is doing wrong or is it his general political philosophy that you object to?

How do you feel about reducing his own salary, suggesting that council taxpayers don't want to fund jaunts to meaningless twin cities, or contribute towards a Gay Pride event?

Great idea to reduce his salary and get did of his car.

However, I can't be the only one who thing that stopping funding £3k towards a Gay Pride event and not providing funding for black history month, is more about showing his bigot friends that he is "showing those qu**rs and blacks, whose boss".

Or will the council also cut funding to the myriad community groups is currently supports as well ?

  • Yes, my fault. StevieJ had been making snide remarks about sock puppetry on another thread in much the same vein and style as Jonny Bravo does and so it made me wonder. I checked to see if JB was online and he wasn't. I therefore did that post as an experiment to see what response it would elicit. The result was that JB logged on seconds after my post (or rather after StevieJ read it), came immediately to this thread and posted a remark.

    Busted.

Perhaps he did and the paper didn't report it? Reporting the cutting of a subsidy to white, middle aged morris dancers who turn up to the village fete once per year probably wouldn't sell as many papers?

Good point Kenny, be interesting to see what funding remained.

I wonder how much "pink pound" a gay pride event brings into the town's hotels, pubs & resturants?

Surely enough that the town's hotellier's, publicans and restraunter's could pay the £3k instead of the local tax payers, who incidently will already be picking up the tab for policing the event and for the cleanup afterwards.

I am very happy if it is for the public good, populist and public good are not always the same as I am sure you know.

Ahhhh . the traditional Labour reprise.

We'll give you what you want, dear votes, so long as our middle class sensibilities thinks its good for you. We know best for you, after all.

Patronising to the nth degree, as always.

Could you explain the public good of spending £80,000 a year to be twinned to several obscure towns on mainland Europe? I'm genuinely curious.

I have seen the Yes Minister series, I know how the decision making process works.
