Bad service at Dixons

You need to remind Dixons that as the retailer your contract is with them and no one else, It is down to them to effect a repair/replacement, If you are really persistant you may get a refund, but after 5 months that is unlikely. If the problem is dead pixels then there is actually an agreed number that can be dead before it is considered defective see Here.
If you have a look in this forum for a thread "Aaaaagh Comet" it has some advice on how to deal with Comet/Dixons etc. But on the whole they are not very nice to deal with and you will need to be tough and maybe even start a claim through the small claims court to get things moving. Good luck.
Am I missing something here - I think the comment about trading standards was helpful - more helpful than some of the posts I have seen on these sites. I do agree that it is up to Dixons to effect a repair/replacement and the OP will need to be insistent and tough on this with them but have to say I think that first comment was totally uncalled for.0 -
"Ring trading standards - consumer direct who will tell you ................" would have been helpful, as your post did, just saying ring xxxxx does not really impart any knowledge/information onto someone who is looking for help on how to deal with a company, writing that just seems to be a way of getting a post count up - nothing constructive was done by it (not in my view anyhow)0

aahh I see what you meant now - although I am not sure my advice was particularly useful, advising to go back to Dixons and stand ground, having read the problems people seem to be experiencing with these companies - why are dixons and currys so bad when it comes to this sort of thing - surely the law is the law - how can these companies wriggle out of their obligations to consumers. Its not much help to the OP I spose but the thing to do is for people to start shopping elsehwere although it is so difficult when they seem to have a fairly large grip on the marketplace.0 -
after reading the post above
ring trading standards........:D only joking
i have more advise to add.
It says on a trading standards document somewhere that you can reject a repair/ replacement if this remidy will cause you unnessasary inconveniance.
so within 6 months a refund could be gained ?? maybe"Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0
