Urgent problem, return ticket, no outbound flight

Anyone in a similar situation might find it worth looking at getting an open return ticket. With BA they are cheaper than one way even if booked at last minute, plus you can change the return date as many times as you like at no charge. In the end if you do not use the return you have still saved money.0

Sorry all for taking a few days to reply and update. I have been busy with the return to work, my daughter return to school, etc. As an update, I have written to AA customer relations and I am waiting to hear back from them. As all calls are recorded, I asked them to locate the call.
I did inform them that the chances of her making the flight (outbound) were almost 0, due to ilness. The agent who took the call, just said no problem. On the day of travel, again, I went to the desk and informed them, no information about a new ticket was offered.
I suspect it will be a few weeks/month before I hear back from them, but I will post back the outcome.Member 7 of 100 to 10k - £100 to £10k = £1490 -
Thanks for the update but I am still confused as you do not appear to have answered my previous question:I'm sorry, but I really have to ask you this again: Did you call them twice and see them in person once to query the situation and you actually received, on each occasion categoric assurances that it would be ok for your daughter to return to the UK on the return portion of the ticket if she did not use the outbound portion of the same ticket?
The reason I am asking you this again is that all you seem to have answered in response to this question previously is that you 'informed them' that your daughter was ill and would not make the outbound flight.
In my mind there is a difference between the two scenarios. Sorry of this sounds as if I am being picky but I am trying to help you to help yourself sort this out.0 -

I was under the impression that I did on my description above. Yes, I was told that it would be ok, to be specific, no problem was the answer I got.Member 7 of 100 to 10k - £100 to £10k = £1490 -
So you advised them that she was very likely to miss the outbound flight but would still require to use the return portion and they advised 'no problem' to that?0
