Shes wanting it posting to her work address? Hmm, that often rings a bell with me, specially if the item would fit through the letterbox anyway! Is the works address near to her registered paypal address?

She doesn't use paypal, hence her rant to me about not accepting paypal, but both her work address and home address are in the same area which makes it even stranger.

Sorry wasnt paying attention there! She sounds a bit of an oddball to me - you dont rant at a seller because they accept paypal! Or tell them that you want the item by such a date! You would make sure you bought the item in plenty of time!

Thanks for your thoughts on this. I started to think I was being unreasoable for some reason, and it is nice to think that others can see that this is an odd one.

I have told her that due to her delay in paying it is unlikely she will get her item by her deadline, but that I will do what I can to post it tomorrow assuming her payment does actually arrive before the post office closes in the afternoon.

Don't send goods before you have recieved payment!! If the buyer was that desperate you would have had payment by now. You get a lot of weirdos on eBay although only about 1% if going by my experience, but heck thats still a lot of people out there!!

I get miffed off with slow delivery and payment too. I expect payment or notification that payment will be sent within 24 hours aside from exceptional circumstances.

With delivery I expect it within a few days, especially when paying through Paypal. I will always post same or next day depending on PO opening hours.

I set myself them standards and hope others follow.

2 examples on each side of the fence I am involved in.

Buying: Paid for a DVD last Wednesday by Paypal. Got no thanks from seller and was expecting it Friday, Saturday or Today.

Selling: Sold my Laptop 21.00 Sunday night, bidder has Paypal, has good feedback and was around at the auction end judging by when his bids were placed. This is the one that concerns me most, have bought a PSP and a few other bits that will come on my credit card bill a few weeks in June and I wanted to transfer the money out of Paypal into my bank account in time for the payment date. I will easily cope but it would be nice to have it to save any unforseen circumstances which may leave me requiring the money.

I know these cases are not bad examples but they are mildly annoying. I sense problems with the laptop but havn't given up hope just yet

Guess what, she wasn't able to post PO today so she will send a cheque later and I'm not to worry about posting it tomorrow.

    <sigh>

Cleared up things with my buyer.

    1) He had been busy at work and didnt feel like switching on his PC when he got home.

    2) He had that £4500 Paypal thingy and had to do additional security checks.

He appologised and as far as I am concerned all is well as long as I get my money in the next week or so

A cheque? And at that if you wait for it to clear that takes about 5 working days? Then she will be complaining that its late?!

I hate cheques. Such a pain to go to the bank and pay in so unless its a large amount I will leave it in my wallet till I remember to pay it in. Still accept them though as it could be the difference between selling your item and getting no bids.

I'd rather pay Paypal a cut and get it quicker and simpler

People complain about the fees, but it is so much easier. They've screwed me like others with buyers claiming they don't receive stuff -- and then no come back at all when they ulitimately do receive it and admit same. Just silence. But it is usually the easiest, not the cheapest, form of payment. I like bank deposit, I go to their bank and plonk it in. Not vast sums, but it sure makes the items get posted quickly.Nothng fancy, nothing obscure, just regular rubbish, no cons, I am a believer that most eBayers are honest. Naive, yes, busted, not yet!

I agree. In the week and a bit since this buyer won her last item I have sold approx 100 items, 99 of which have been paid for by paypal and already despatched and in most cases feedback left both ways.

The time I have spent on this particular buyer equals the time spent on all my other buyers in total for the past week. It would have been infinitely cheaper for me to have taken paypal in the first place, but she doesn't trust it.
