Theoretically you're right wolfman but to the average listener, not using Hi-Fi equipment, it's virtually unnoticeable and the OP did say that it's for an mp3 player and a cheapy to boot so shouldn't be any problem, especially if she keeps it at 160 to avoid too much more compression.wolfman wrote:Is there no way you can re-encode the tracks using the original cd's?
Transcoding from WMA to mp3 (ie from one lossy format to another) can result in quality loss due to the way the algorithms work for each codec.
Edited to add that if you have the original CDs and ripped them using Windows Media Player to WMA, you can do as wolfman sugested and rip them again using dBPoweramp. Select the Audio CD Input which is a CD Ripper. If you need any more info just shout.0
