Investing in a Japan Fund. Any advice

Options
Hi I`m looking to invest about £50 each month in a Japaneese fund.

Just wondered if there is anyone on here with any advice.

Thanks

    Why a Japanese fund?

Without trying to sound offensive or anything, you've been asking a lot of questions about a lot of different things lately. Are you sure that investing into a Japan fund is right for you? Will it fit in with a balanced portfolio that you already have set up, or is this just a punt?

    No it isn`t a punt.

I am asking a lot of questions as I know nothing about investing and am looking for some advice of how to invest in certain areas.

I thought the whole idea of this forum was for us to be able to help each other.

    Hope your not offended

I have found this fund to be fairly resilient.

Not advice but possibly worth a place in a balanced portfolio.#

Neptune Japan Opportunties is the best performer I think over 1,3 & 5 years. Generally, exposure to Japan should be no more than 10% of your portfolio (or so the experts say). Check more on relevant websites. Bestinvest is good.

Worth noting that Neptune Japanese Ops had an exceptional 2008 and early 2009 (partly through shorting Japanese shares I believe) which has put it firmly at the top of the performance charts. Whether that can be repeated going forward, who knows?

Also worth bearing in mind that the political party that has ruled japan for 19 years lost last week's election, so all bets may well be off

Out of the limited selection available to me, I chose Schroder Tokyo to go in my pension.

Only got 3% going in there, but I've got such a long way to go to retirement that I'm happy building up a little Japanese pot and hoping their economy flourishes.
