I don't understand why you bothered to post that anti-microwave diatribe then.

Because I wanted to. There are some points which people might find of interest. I dont see anyone defending the increased cancers, the woman who died after blood was heated via microwave, nutritional value of food decimated, vitamins/minerals changed to cancerous compounds etc etc. Food is basically cooked from the inside out as opposed to the outside in via conventional methods. as I say im not too bothered as I use mine occasionally. You may pay your money and you take your choice but to be forearmed is to be forewarned.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microwave
A microwave oven uses a magnetron microwave generator to produce microwaves at a frequency of approximately 2.45 GHz for the purpose of cooking food. Microwaves cook food by causing molecules of water and other compounds to vibrate or rotate. The vibration creates heat which warms the food. Since organic matter is made up primarily of water, food is easily cooked by this method.

All it does is make water molecules vibrate, thus causing food to heat. Therefore food is heated throughout at the same time. Whereas an item of food in an oven or grill will get heat to the outside first. There is nothing magical about the microwave, it is highly unlikely to change anything into carcinogens. However there is probably increased risk of cancers from poor modern diets. As I understand it, if food is cooked properly in a microwave, it can retain more of its vitamin content.

For a less alarmist and pseudoscientific criticism of microwaves see here. Unfortunately wikipedia is probably not the best source of information, but there you go :)

just got mine delivered; man tis big. Much much better than other £100 ovens about atm.

nothing wrong with people posting stuff on microwave ovens, but if you do, don't then get all miffed off if people question your mis-information.

These are the fancy new things which allow you to scan a code (on the side of Marks and Spencers Ready Meals I have noticed them, probably on other things too) and it will cook your food to perfection (supposedly). £99.99 is not bad considering this contains a microwave, a conventional oven, and a conventional grill. Also, the same oven is well over £250 elsewhere so I don't know if this is a pricing error or not!

The black one http://www.currys.co.uk/product.php?sku=736868 is £299.99

Just remember to untick the fondue thing, unless you want it :)

Now if only I had the money to buy myself one  , my credit card debt is bad en ough as it is so I'm going to let you lot snap this one up! (looking for a job at moment). Hope this helps someone anyway...

If you've bought one, check out http://www.smartcooking.co.uk/recipes-menu.html where you can print off cocking programme barcodes to scan with the microwave.

Lol - If you scan a bottle of Flash, I wonder if it will clean itself as well - now that would be smart technology in my book!

Mines just arrived, and there's no need to scan a bottle of flash, as it does it's own self steam cleaning!

LOL who is miffed off here then? Certainly not me! The wikipedia info is useful to a point, although doesent make the info I found any less relevant or genuine. The same concerns along with names, dates of research can be found at http://www.be-you.com/Display.php?ID=782

The site it was taken from is genuine as are the scientists who conducted the research so those who think it is misinformation are themselves misinformed-Enjoy your new ovens.

This oven sounds good. Steam cleaning, massive and a website with barcodes, :) it's a shame that to cook a baked potatoe, as well as the barcode, you need to buy a potatoe. All we need now is to be able to download codes off the internet, scan them into an oven and have the food appear out of thin air with no shopping whatsoever, a la star trek style replicators.

Says temporarily so we can hope. I am more tempted to buy one now even though I don't have the money lol.. I'm surprised that if it's a pricing error it's not been sorted out yet...

I bought this on Monday after seeing it posted on another forum. I was a bit miffed when I could only find one thing in Asda with the SmartCode on it (Birds Eye Simply Fish) so I have emailed Birds Eye to ask whether they are introducing the smartcode on any more products or whether they have discontinued it. Will let you know what the reply is.

Thanks for this honestDave. I shall have a good look later to see if there are any good smartcodes on there!
