54 insurance companies out of 65 said no to me having contents insurance because of bankruptcy.
Most of the companies which said 'yey' came back with a very high premium for contents insurance. The company that seemed to be fair was esure. Anyone had any dealings with them?

I didn't even know there were 65 insurance companies out there.
There was an insurance thread running some time back. You might want to update it with your findings.

There is currently a thread about insurance called 'Home Contents Insurance' by PSNautical. That wasn't the thread I was talking about but it has some information. Also there is a poll by City Slicker with templates to write to MPs etc about how you can commit a criminal offence, go to prison, come out and not have to declare your crime (because you have paid the price) but once bankrupt you have to declare it for the rest of your life if you are asked. Now that isn't fair - maybe you all could have a look and give your support.

Asda were one of the insurerers who said yes but their premiums came back high and that was with a voluntary excess.
I wrote to my MP re city slickers thread. I'm waiting for her response.
I'll have a look at the insurance thread and add what ever I can there.
