Administrator permission crap

Hi there.
i'll try to make this a short story!
I had a computer, it died. i managed to get the hard drive out of it which is now a 'd' drive in my new computer, where i store my music and photos etc. i have a huge file of photos, which i am trying to re organise now and put into separate folders etc.
Every time i perform a task, even changing the view of a photograph, i have to click 2 permission tabs to authorise the function
i am the only user, and the administrator on my computer.
i looked in properties for the 'd' drive and changed permissions to full control .. (perhaps that was the wrong thing to do), for all users, it comes up there that there are the 'administrator', and then 'me/pc' and then 'guest' . i have changed all the permissions to read the same, full control.
i have checked to make sure that i (the only user and only account on the computer) is checked as administrator,(and not standard) and i have been all along.
the problem seems to be only coming up in the d drive.
any suggestions?
my friend said copy the lot over to the c drive, make the changes and then copy them back, but i would rather not do that.
i can make the changes in the d drive, but i am tired of being asked to give permission twice every time i do this. .as i have over 6000 photos, i will have lost the will to live by the time i get through half of them...

any techie suggestions out there for a blonde to understand..
many thanks

It might help someone solve your problem if you stated what operating system you're using.

I really hate how vista does this. 'vista needs your permission to continue' blah blah blah all the time. I don't care what people are doing with my laptop, if they have it in thier possesion! Well if someone's got my laptop and is physically putting a disk in or pressing buttons on it, I really don't care what they do with it, my main issue would be that they have my laptop!!
Sorry about the rant. But if you are logged in as administrator, I really don't have any idea why it's still pestering you. Hopefully someone else can help!

You need to take ownership of the files/folders as the NTFS permissions aren't matched to the Administrators group on Vista

it looks like that yes, with the same dialog, but firstly it comes up with another box, which says 'destination folder access denied', with one of those yellow exclamation mark triangles, and then ' you need to provide administrator permission to move to this file'.
i can then click 'continue', and it comes up with the one u just posted, and then i click continue and the photo gets moved/changed whatever..

i am the administrator, i have checked all of that. so...
