I'll Be Writing My MP

It's not exactly a consumers right issue more of a consumer awareness topic so this is probably the best place to post.
A couple of years back I was shopping in one of my local supermarkets, one that I hadn't been in for a few months, and certainly not since it had underwent its refit.
Now this particular supermarket has a great reputation for its meat and bread counter and my reason for calling was to collect some fresh scones for visitors I was expecting later that day. Imagine my surprise when I noticed this woman lifting the scones and giving them a gently squeeze just to make sure they were fresh  Now she put a few of them back and went on about her business. Needless to say I didn't, or do not buy fresh bread from that supermarket any more.
We've only recently got a M&S food store in our town and again to my horror I see that even a shop of M&S standing display unwrapped self service breads. Think of the germs that must be passed on in these stores!
Like myself I'm sure you've seen the ads on the box about Swine Flu giving us all the advice on how to avoid spreading the virus. I wonder though what they are going to do about situations like I've mentioned above. Would I be exaggerating to say that saving the wages of a few counter staff is more important to the supermarkets than the potential germs their customers could pick up from contaminated food. To be honest I'm surprised Health and Safety have not anything to say on this issue!
I for one will be writing to my MP and drawing this situation to his attention and I would ask Money Saving members to write to their MP's and ask what they are going to do about this sever health risk.

Good for you, Kevin
I think you should also write to Viz and Framley Examiner.0 -

I'm pretty sure mine doesn't, but he does appear to be an expert in expensive duck houses.0 -
I am surprised that people are still employed who squeeze rolls, I thought CRB checks had eliminated the people who would do such things from having jobs handling food.
You should write to your MP, and while you are about it, please write to mine. [Don't use green ink, pls]Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Was she wearing her Scone Police uniform? Or was she an undercover scone tester?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
To be fair this stinks of double standards
I was out on the Razz on Saturday night and I gave a birds breast a good squeeze, just see if it was real or fake...
I got a right slap!!!
Why should the scone squeezers be treated with more fairness than me???Beware of imitations e.g. Robert Sterling0 -

Kevin, surely you'd pick up just as many (or maybe more) germs when you push open the door to M&S, hold on to the railing down the stairs, press the lift buttons, touch the money in your wallet / purse etc etc etc - during any normal day the average person must come into contact with hundreds of germs and not suffer any ill effects whatsoever
I'm keen to hear how you consider this a severe health risk and I'm also keen to hear what response you get from your MP0 -
You know, I typed out a long response to this, but I deleted it all because this is ridiculous!
Do you wear a face mask when you go out and eat nothing that has been handled by another individual ever? If you hadn't seen it, it wouldn't have been a problem! I agree though, that what that woman did was inconsiderate.**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

If this isn't a wind up I will cry. Although if this is the sort of nonsense MPs have to spend all day replying to maybe they should have their wages doubled after all.0

I agree, Kevin. And to make absolutely sure you don't get contaminated with anything maybe it's best you stay indoors from now on...0
