Sorry, I meant a week, not per month :rolleyes:Quackers wrote:I think £1,500 a month isn't much money at all for a manager of a big casino in the West End.

And to what benefit was that post? If you cant see any benefit why answer? Why not give someone else some "advice"?krisskross wrote:I expect there is a dual tax agreement with Italy, if he pays his tax there then he has no liability in the UK.
I find it interesting that the OP appears to know all the ins and outs of someone else's financial situation. Either report to the Benefit Cheat hotline or mind your own business is my take on it. Can't for the life of me see what benefit will accrue from posting this on an internet forum.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
Benefit/tax fraud is fraud, it doesn't matter whether they're earning £200 or £2000.
Every penny thats fraudulently claimed impacts on the tax and NI people pay, and removes money from people who need it.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -

If I knew about a situation like this I would 'shop' them without a moment's hesitation. You'd better believe it - I've done it before, to a woman who was claiming although working as a florist. No one has ever given me any kind of leeway, because of my age or because of anything else!

And I have seen cases like this before. And they will never recover all the money if any at all. As the judge will look at them at them and see what the income is and the age and they will be given a token payment of £1 a week or maybe a £5 a month. Have seen it in debt cases where judges say well you have to have a life  and they make a token payment on thousands that they own.
I have never claimed any benefits and I get annoyed that I know of people who are working the system. And the attitude is because I can.
I don't report cases like that because I am too close to the situation and only a few people would know the information. And the OP seems to know too much. Would could mean any report will back fire. And I for one am not going to be harrassed by doing what I know is the right thing. Because it is going to be rather obvious where the report came from.

Because they're old and they don't know the score. I would feel differently if he was contributing to the household, but he's not. You have to feel sorry for people when they have a leech as a child.
I don't feel the need to sympathise one iota - the people who deserve sympathy are every single taxpayer who are funding this family's fraud. And I am sorry but where is that argument coming from "because they're not actually ending up with more than they would get if he wasn't living there"? They are not the ones paying for his food - WE ARE!!!!!!!
Also, if he is living with them then they should insist that he pays his way and relieves the burden on the taxpayers - I am pretty sure anyway that if the relevant department found out about him living there they would treat it as if he were paying his way and make the relevant deductions accordingly - one would hope anyway. And why is their age a defence?
Blacksaturn is absolutely right to point out the error of their ways to them - they are lucky Blacksaturn is kind enough to just do that instead of reporting them.0 -

black-saturn - I did not see the point of his post either. Its nice of you to try and warn them of the mistake they are making - they are lucky no-one has reported them.0 -
Started the thread as I didnt know whether I was advising them wrongly about it all. But I know I'm not now. The matter has been sorted and no one else needs to post.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040
