  • Hi all!
I've been out all day so haven't caught up with todays posts so hope everyone is well & had a good Saturday.
I've been to a work get to together thing that I wasn't really looking forward to & planned to stay for just an hour or so. But it turned out really good so many hours later I finally made it home! Means I've done no chores really today but hey-ho can't work & chore all the time! Plenty to catch up with tomorrow plus if its dry enough the grass desperately needs cutting.

Quillion wow, what a difference! Well done! What is the secret? You actually look taller on each one too which is quite odd. Is that pink vest now dusters?
serena been thinking of you today x
Pigpen what a lovely idea for his present :)
greenbee, damp dusting before you go might help. Good luck.

Well what a day, I might have mentioned before I thought I could smell gas in this house, well the plumber could too when he went to turn the water on (in gas box) anyway I phoned the gas people (it was Transco....think it's United Utilities now) sent a nice man out, he was a nice singing man who initially couldn't find the leak but agreed about the smell. Anyway he put the rod under the floor, bingo! It seems when the gas system was renewed last year they messed up a pipe under the floor and on the drive. 2 engineers came out, dug holes and said they would cap it to make safe and put it back on by a team tomorrow. Anyway after a little coffee persuassion they stayed and finished the job themselves renewing the pipe to the house. They left about an hour ago, took them ages and I felt rotten as one of thems wife kept phoning to see where he was but it's done, we have a gas supply again but can't use the drive until they refill the hole next week. I suppose we've been lucky as have the previous tenants.

Anyway I've unpacked a couple of boxes/bags, done 2 loads of washing, sorted the 'caravan' shoes, filled my new dishwasher :D been to the shop for some basics (yes I bought some yellow stickered items, I am trying to reduce spending tho!) just about to go empty some more boxes into the top of the cabinet (CDs etc) I am wondering when DP will say 'where are we unpacking this to' instead of 'when are you going to get the unpacking sorted' he might realise eventually I can't do it all on my own in a day!
One day I might be more organised...........

    - well done on the gas man persuasion! Reminded me of a house I once lived in. There were smells of gas and it took several visits by the gas people to sort it out. In the end, I learnt to call AFTER I'd cooked dinner rather than before - that way when they told me to turn the gas off immediately we'd already eaten :D

Well done Quillion. The photos must be great motivation!

Thanks for all the good wishes for the walk. I made it round in 3.5 hours, with a couple of longish stops for friends to catch up. I should have worn my walking boots, which I know are comfortable, but decided to wear my trainers which I haven't really worn since the moonwalk last year :o. I have blisters :p

Came home, put the duvet in the TD for a few more minutes while I made a hot water bottle. Put a couple of pillows in the WM and went to find a pair of flipflops (my uggs hurt my blisters :o) and there was a GINORMOUS spider in the bath. As I smell very unpleasant after the walk (and anyway, if I left it I wouldn't know where it had gone) I had to deal with it, so my adrenaline levels have gone through the roof and there's no chance of sleeping anytime soon! (I'm afraid I had to deal with it using the shower to wash it into the middle of the bath, then boiling water to kill it, then bicarb/salt/vinegar to clear the drain).

I'm off to have a very quick and nervewracking shower, and will then probably read until I get to sleep. Hopefully I won't miss all of tomorrow...

ETA - I don't think I am itching... I think my skin is crawling , which means I need to calm down my sympathetic nervous system... I hope a swim will work, otherwise it's beta blockers, and they make me cry  It's probably a delayed reaction to the drop in my stress levels
