Car Park crash ...

Was there not a similar thread to this earlier this month? Is this something more sinister?
Is this perhaps the new way of getting a claim through rather fraudulently? I am struggling to see how it would really work and not being there makes it hard to visualise.
Or is it just a sign of impatient folk in car parks.
Although you are all probably correct, it might just not be the OPs fault.0 -
Supermarkets are the only place I don't do this because it can make loading the boot with shopping difficult.
No it doesnt, you can just do what others who reverse into supermarket spaces do ! Push your trolley between parked cars and scratch the car next to you :mad:.
And yes i saw a thread like this recently to.
Does read like the OP was at fault tho0 -
I belive their was a simular post to this.
THE POLICE WOULD NOT COME OUT AS NEITHER OF YOU WERE HURT OR HAD MADE OFF .
As you were exchanging details , that was the end of it . TBH if you are contesting damage let the insurers sort it .
I tend to park right on the other side of the carpark. Or in mother and baby spots if im with ds
Plus I never trust anyone else as the other person may have scratched his car and want a free mend lolONE HOUSE , DS+ DD Missymoo Living a day at a time and getting through this mess you have created. One day life will have no choice but to be nice to me :rotfl:0 -
OP might want to compare notes on this with the other party in this thread. Wonder if they are in the same area?

Hi
Thanks for all of your comments. If I am to blame then so be it, I dont feel I am but its like the going in the back of someone rule. Not always clear cut, but its the rules.
However I do see the bigger issue that clealy there was nothing wrong with his car or mine, and that if he puts in a claim does that then effect my no claims.
As someone said here, I dont know if he has done damage or not. So when I said put in a counter claim I mean that I put one in as I dont know if there is damage or not. that way it screws his insurance as much as mine, as basically thats all he is doing.0 -
no claim not no blame. Once he understands that by claiming even if he is not at fault it may still affect his insurance he may decide not to put in a claim.Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -

If there is a claim made by the third party, and your insurer accepts any liability for it, then it will be a fault claim against you and your NCD will be affected (if you don't have it protected). You will not get any NCD added for the current year, and your level will drop from it's current level (max 5 years) by 2 years.
You cannot make a claim unless you have damages as a result of this. If you do, then you can make a claim, and if the third party is held in any way to blame then his NCD will be affected (if it's unprotected) in the same way yours will.
Now that the incident has happened, both your insurance histories are affected - the incident needs to be reported, and could affect both of your premiums in future irrespective of whether or not any claims are made.0 -

You were the one carrying out the "dangerous" manouver. You should both be looking for danger, so one might ask if he was paying attention, but its down to you really. However I do see the bigger issue that clealy there was nothing wrong with his car or mine, and that if he puts in a claim does that then effect my no claims.
Clearly nothing wrong with either car? You're qualified to make that detemination from just a glace eh? If I had a "newish golf" and someone drove into the side of it, I'd be getting it checked out for sure. And so would you.As someone said here, I dont know if he has done damage or not. So when I said put in a counter claim I mean that I put one in as I dont know if there is damage or not. that way it screws his insurance as much as mine, as basically thats all he is doing.
You don't put in a claim for the sake of it. You need to report the accident to your insurer, as does he, and if you find damage then you should claim for it. You don't put in a claim regardless of damage, you won't "screw his insurance" by making a claim unless your car is damaged AND the insurers determine he is at least partly at fault. Frankly you sound pretty petty talking about handing out screwings here, perhaps just accept that some you win and some you lose and move on?If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -

The last thread about this went down that route shortly followed by comments like:

There's no chance of this going down as a 50/50 asuming you and the other driver tell the truth as layed out here. Even with no independant witnesses the fact that you were reversing and you hit him will ensure it's judged to be your fault. But I think you already know thatI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
