Its not that - I think he is wrong to not mention postage in the correct place but I think I need to take some of the blame for not reading the auction before bidding. If he did not mention postage at all I would definately neg however it could be a genuine mistake as an earlier poster on here did - simply a case of not knowing that dvds were now free postage. I will know more when I can gauge the tone of his reply and if its a genuine mistake then a neutral to alert others to check but that wont affect his rank seems ok. If he insists on the extra postage, is rude, blames me or simply refuses to sell then it would warrant a neg i think.
If you don;t neg him all your doing is saying that its fine for him to rip people off. Your decision though0 -

I'm going to add "must pay me and extra £100" in my lisitngs and hope that I get a compliant buyer like yourself!Terms & Conditions Apply0 -
He has now replied:
HI MATE
THATS FOR A SINGLE DVD NOT A BOXSET
IT WILL BE SENT RECORDED DELIVERY
IF YOU DONT WANT IT LET ME KNOW AND I WILL REFUND YOU
CHEERS
Is this correct?
This is a slim almost dvd size set with 5 cd's in it - does the free post only apply to main dvd's or boxsets also (and is there anything on ebay to confirm this so I can let him know). Also I am not being 'compliant' etc - I said it would depend on whether it was a genuine mistake. I'm not in the habit of giving negs if someone was unaware they had done something wrong however I do always give factual and honest feedback i.e. if he came back to me apologising and saying he was sorry he was unaware these were supposed to be free and would sell it for the auction only price and he would update any dvd auctions he had etc then I dont think a neg would be warranted. However I said from the start if he was rude, blamed me or refused to honour it then I would neg him as it would be deserved.
ADDED - have found the following on ebay and as seller is saying 'courier' he is implying it is heavy or bulky however in main body of text he says it will go 1st class recorded so I think this is a fee avoidance case and he is trying to bend the 'courier' rules:
In all categories, items which are extremely heavy or bulky and require a specific courier for delivery can be exempted. Sellers should select the option “Courier : Heavy and bulky items” instead of “Flat: same cost to all buyers” in the drop-down menu below the Domestic postage label. This option is relevant to your item if the delivery charge to buyers is dependent on their delivery location. We’ll be monitoring this to ensure proper usage of the optionSome People Live & Learn, Some People Just Live...0 -
sellers can add postage to a boxset
however he didnt list it with postage,he listed it as free P&P
i would stop replying to mesaages now.
my final message would be that you won the auction for the price they set and expect your item to arrive in due time.
that you will not be replying to anymore messages regarding this and look forward to satisfactory outcome.
the worst they can do is refund.you have all the 'power' here
pm me a link to the seller if you want me to see the format0 -
Thanks

I think where he has a point is that he listed the postage as 'courier - contact seller or see auction' so thats what showed up, however when you clicked on the 'see delivery info' it showed no price hence as its in dvd category and no price shown it looks free. However its only when you read through the text you can see that there is a sectoin saying it is £3 for 1st class recorded post - not courier at all.
Again I do feel partly to blame as I did not read all description before last min bid which would have sorted all this out prior to bidding, however even if he can add postage should it not still show when you click on the 'postage info' link at the top of the auctions? The postage is only £3 and I do want the item even if it works out a little more than other sellers with free postage however he wants me to email this payment direct to his paypal address (not through ebay) which does concern me.Some People Live & Learn, Some People Just Live...0 -

Sellers can't add postage for a box set, all they can do is list courier and a price in the post and packing box. However, they then price themselves out of the market of course as they are forced to use the courier at say £7 rather than Royal mail at say £3.
Your last line though is the reason why I think any seller who insists in trying to get round the rules needs to rethink their whole business strategy- while buyers hold all the cards why persists in trying to do something that will annoy them and when it is completely against the rules?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks - when I read the ebay page I found it looked like they could only exclude the item from the free p&p if it was extremely bulky or heavy and if they sent it by courier. As this seller is using normal royal mail recorded for £3 its obviously not that big or heavy and is being sent by standard post. They have not replied to my last message so I am expecting the payment refunded or them to say it was sent - did it not arrive? - here's your money back. Either way I dont get the item for the price advertised
I have checked his other auctions and single dvd's are listed as free p&p with all the sets listed as courier with royal mail charge. Again thanks for the replies. Some People Live & Learn, Some People Just Live...0 -

He's not using the main DVD category to sell so he is getting round the rules that way. I think that one would be harder to complain about unless it was for miscategorisation, but then anyone (like me) who trawls though categories only for items ending soonest wouldn't see his DVDs, and once again a seller loses out trying to get a little clever.
AS you know I sell books, if i sell in the book category regardless of how many I sell in one 'lot' I can still only charge £2.75 postage. If I put them in wholesale I can charge what I like, but it is a difficult category to sell in if you rely on casual browsers.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
