Stayed at the Movenpick 3 nights back in March (for the football) - fine hotel. The BBC Scotland crew were also based there.
They offer a free shuttle/taxi run to central station which is just 5-10 min walk max (you can actually see it), and then you can jump on trams from out the front of the station or water buses or walk to damn square etc.

I have booked a trip to amsterdam in nov and booked my hotel through Hotwire. $96 per night for the movenpick hotel worked out at £122 ish for 2 nights not bad for a good 4 star hotel, good tripadvisor reviews.
Shows up on hotwire as Amsterdam east hotel with the following Amenities: Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Golf, Tennis

  • I am watching this thread with interest. My husband, sixteen-year-old daughter and I want to travel to Amsterdam next summer. We've bought the DK Amsterdam Guide and I'm looking up details of the hotels within our price range via their individual websites. I would be interested to know if any other members can suggest hotels they have stayed in which are quiet i.e. no function rooms, nightclubs or late bars.

Elenory, wee stayed in the NH Musica over NYE last year. I can assure you it was very quiet. It is however in the business district so you need to get a train into the "action"
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
