Hi
Have to say many of my plants aren't looking as strong as your pictures, but i was able to harvest some chives today. I have had them for years, originally a herb pot from Tesco's but now out in the garden.
I potted on some carrots, courgettes, spring onions, onions, garlic and a couple of potatoes, so just waiting for them to get over the shock and hopefully start growing. they are all in containers and pots as don't really have too much space in the garden. I had forgotten that i have a small pear tree which fruits so that is full of blossom, trouble is we usually get one really bad rain storm each year and the fruit split, how can i stop this happening?

Nether have I any ideasorry, (my first year doing them in pots annd on the lottie for that matter), however, this is how I understand it works. Those seed potatoes grow into individual plants and produce there own potatoes, with the original "seeds" rotting away. So each "seed" produces more potatoes.
When I've seen it on th TV, they seem to empty out the bucket or whatever and there seems to be rather a lot of potatoes in the end.
Hope that helps0 -

So far, so good for me Basil! I got 5 packs from Lidl and so far, I have Iceberg Lettuce, Cucumber and today I have got my first Spinach coming through!!!
I am so excited each day (sad I know) but every time I check them, I seem to have some more coming through, even a few hours apart!!!
I could easily go back to Lidl and get loads more but I only have a small garden!!!

Am I too late to plant for this year?
I'm thinking of doing courgettes, tomatoes, peppers and maybe some beans.
They'll have to go in tubs, as OH doesn't want the garden dug up (boring man!)

Hi, no I don't think your too late, plants have an habit of catching up anyway. Plus those plants are killed by the forst so you couldn't have put them outside yet, anyway.
Best of luck and Happy Gardening0 -

There was abit about this on Gardeners Question Time last weekend. If you want too, and can do before this Sunday you can use the "listern again" option on the radio 4 website.
You just need to click on the program listed.
I think I remember that washing up water is fine as long as you have only used washing up liquid.0
