Skype on 3

I am thinking of taking a contract with 3 (200 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited internet and email) and as other members of my family are on the same network it occurs to me that the free Skype calls could be a very useful supplement to the inclusive minutes on the contract. However, can anyone confirm if using Skype utilises any of the inclusive "unlimited" (capped at 1 gb) data included on the plan. I'm guessing that it doesn't because free Skype calls are offered on plans that don't include internet access but it would be nice if someone could confirm it. I have asked 3 customer services and they are anxious to confirm its free but can't or won't answer the question about data usage, any opinions about call quality also appreciated.:D

skype is 100% free and doesnt come out of your allowance of any kind.

My OH has a PAYG skype phone with no balance and she can skype whenever she likes.

Just make sure it is a supported "3 skype" phone and you are using the official "3 skype" applications.

Skype call quality can really vary from place to place....myself & my OH had handsets a while ago half the time the skpe functions were next to useless....in the end after god knows how many handset swaps we gave up & went to someone else...

my OH has being using it for a while now (in south east). She makes in and out going calls to U.S. and it seems alright. Not as good as a normal call but good enough. Its free!

She has the S2 skypephone. I must say its very good for the price (£40 phone but +£11 quidco on PAYG). I thought it would be a brick but its like the nokia 6 series phones, lightweight and small with a medium sized screen for a phone of that size.
