    If the whole circuit is now dead then just reset the RCD or replace the fuse at the consumer unit.
    If the appliance is faulty, then you really need an engineer for that rather than a general electrician.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    I don't think the whole circuit is dead as the sockets in the other room are okay. However, other appliances that work elsewhere in the house don't work from the double socket in the utility room. Neither does the tumbler nor washing machine.

    Hopefully, an electrician can sort it all out for me, as I don't understand what's happening and am running out of fuses!
