problems receiving emails

You can usually receive your email from an old address, but the servers for the new account will not allow you to send from it (basically an anti-spam measure).
I'm guessing you have not deleted your old Virgin account in OE/WM yet so when you click 'send and receive' you are collecting from all the email accounts.

Sorry I didn't understand your post macman. I've set up a googlemail account now. Is there a way of getting any emails sent to the old ntlworld address to be sent to my new googlemail address? - probably not as I don't know my ntlworld password. I hate computers sometimes. Now how do I find my googlemail address to click on to see if I have any emails?

You can get your ntlworld emails collected by,and shown in your Gmail, BUT you need your old password and username.

Assuming you use Outlook Express/ Winmail on your computer to open email?

Then click HERE and read 'Getting started','Learn more' and then from 'Client info centres' select whichever program is appropriate and work through the settings.
