How about a competition for the oldest working computer used to post on these boards?
If it is of 1986 vintage, 23 years would be a strong contender.
    And we'll want pictorial evidence...

Please can someone tell me how to check the programme I am on? The person who installed everything for me about 18 months ago seems to have his own programmes and it has been altered several times. Sorry, I am not technical although I worked on a Computer for an Insurance Company for years, the programmes were dealt with by Head Office.

Well what icon do you double click on to open the software you are using? Or open the program and the first menu usually has an option something like 'About Word 3'.
Or find the software listed in Start>Programs.
You still haven't told us the file extension of the program you are trying to open.
What operating system are you running on your computer?

Download the compatibility pack from the microsoft site posted by macman. you just need to install it and the document should open in word 2003 after being converted from the 2007 .docx format.
