Hi everyone, I've not been in here for a while, apart from reading, but I thought I should come in to report that I've had to break open my jar due to severe financial constraints and it was that or use my credit card and I DIDN'T want to do that.

I started my jar back in January (second week, I think) and was saving £2 coins and 50ps. The plan was to break the jar on New Year's Eve, putting the money saved towards debt reduction and start a new jar New Year's Day. I have to admit I wavered for a few days before I broke the jar as I so wanted to see if I could beat last year's total of £250 over 11 months. This time I'd saved £167 up to 6 September, which I thought was quite respectable considering I'd not put much in there July and August due to less cash spending

Anyway, the money saved won't be used to reduce any debts but towards travel expenses for two trips that I hadn't managed to put enough money aside for. I suppose I'm standing still which is a good thing debt-wise right?

Anyway, I'm going to start again on 1 October (it's a habit I'm loathed to break) to see how much I manage to save til 31 December :j It feels strange spending those coins as my first instinct is to put them in the jar :D

Sorry about that gang, but I'll be back in the game come October. I wonder if I'll be able to start it off with a £20 note as I think those are very pretty :o:rotfl::rolleyes:

  • hi poorbabe

    you have NOT failed
i have dipped in my pot too
but only cause i would get more interest in the bank

there is another way to look at it
think of the money you have saved
if you had put it on you cc
you would now be paying interest on it
