Ohh - I knew we could get this back on topic. Did anyone else notice how much quieter the roads were when petrol was 1.20 a litre and the 'recession' was in full swing. I wonder if vehicle miles is a good coincident indicator for both GDP and consumer sentiment?!I think....0

Well, my coffee is a bit hit and miss but actually, I make a rather nice pot of tea0 -

Doormat, what's your secret for upping your thanks count?
That's go to be the most impressive thanks count I've ever seen for so few posts.
You must write incredibly useful/witty posts.
Or know how to fiddle the figures.;)0 -

I post up comps. My post count is miniscule compared to the other compers. A couple of them have over 1m thanks. Fiddling? Pah! Only fiddling going on that I know of is that bloke, Old King Cole, a rather merry old soul
Edit: Most of the compers stay in the one board, I, on the other hand, wander about. As I have gone up and down the Ladder of Life more times than a window cleaner, I feel I can venture out
We could all learn a little something from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.0 -

I would agree the car mileage is probably a good indicator of the economic conditions of the country. I remember travelling on the M4 to/from Heathrow in March and it was definitely much quieter than expected.
I recent Fridays around the M3/M25 I have nearly lost the will to live.....;)In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
As I understand it, and I'm by no means any kind of expert, the current crop of reported rises tend to be in the upper echelons of the market where the wealthy play (and, at 20 or so times average salary, this is such a house).0

What a lot of happy compers you must be!
I think I ventured there once, for about a week, in a state of high excitement, wasted some time, won precisely nothing, got cynical and disillusioned, never went back and came down here instead.
Or something like that.
So have you won a lot?0
