I just want to clarify the ebay/paypal protection issue.

It is not true that in the case of non receipt the buyer only gets the item cost back, the buyer gets the full amount including postage paid back.

It is the fee avoiding seller that gets penalised as RM pay out item cost and actual postage paid. For vouchers it is even worse as RM only cover them if sent Special delivery. The real people who are at risk from this silly fee avoidance are the sellers, they risk losing money in case of loss and they are also risking their ebay account. Regardless of personal feelings about whether fee avoidance is right or wrong just ask yourself do you honestly want to deal with a seller that dim?

I didn't know this bit, thanks
  • Damn wish someone didn't buy them was going to ask if i could collect them today and live about 20 mins away.

Probably someone who isnt bothered about the fee avoidance/p&p cost and is happy for £120 vouchers for £111 or someone who is on benefits, sells on ebay, doesnt want the money to go in to their bank accounts for buys vouchers on ebay for high street stores, ive read about it on here im sure.

Why someone who is on benefits?

Yeah the buyer. If someone has a account selling as a business on ebay (but they are on benefits) then they won't want to put money through their bank, (suspicious activity come review time) so they then buy vouchers from their paypal balance and spend the money they have made like that.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

The reason ebay makes so much money is because most like you lot who will happily pay all fees and report someone the instant they see as fee avoidance. You have a choice of not buying if you dont think it's value for money; I see it as a package price, will happily pay for it if i needed and if i think it's good value. btw I'm not the seller.

and if you had to return an item and got a refund minus postage?
people choose to sell on eBay.
why? because its a big market and a good chance of sales/higher prices
