  • Hi everyone,

I've been visiting my folks this weekend - to see them but mainly to clear out loads of old boxes in the loft and to see what I could car boot/eBay. I've ended up with about 6 cardboard boxes full to the brim.

Unfortunately I can't carry any of it home as I got the Megabus here - £6.50 return Edinburgh to Aberdeen but have lots at home to car boot already so will be doing a few this summer! Mum and Dad will bring down the boxes in early June when they are visiting for the weekend so saving me petrol!

We went to a car boot sale yesterday (for research ;-)), a big one and my dad bought me a slow cooker. Would have paid for it myself but he won't let me. I also bought some clothes and boots, none of which really fit but I can re-car boot them soon anyway. Was worth the risk. Also got some new books for 50p that I hadn't read and a Monsoon jacket to sell on eBay (I already resold a Monsoon jacket this week that I had bought at a charity shop & made £7 profit - Monsoon stuff sells so well).

Today my mum and I went to a nearly new sale. I bought a funky perfume bottle for my dressing table for 10p, a Monsoon Chinese style shirt to sell on eBay for £1, a set of stone earthenware oven dishes for 50p and a brand new British road atlas for my car for £1 - everything was dirt cheap. My mum got a brand new with tags Per Una top for 50p (I tried to get her to sell in on eBay but she likes it too much).

When I get home tonight about 10pm, I'll be writing my court claim form to submit to court tomorrow for my bank charges and answering a couple of eBay questions about my items.

That's enough for today I think!

I emptied out the bin bag my daughter gave me to give to charity and found it full of designer clothes. ive listed a whole load of them on ebay. On the down side someone broke into our shed and garage last night and we havent yet worked out what they pinched. Its a rather uncomfortable feeling.

Today i've made some bread, homemade soup and sausage hotpot for my dinner tonight.

I've cleaned the bathroom and the kitchen and done a washing

I've loads of stuff to list on ebay just need to get on with it! Also got loads of ironing to do but ebay stuff comes first :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Need to get washing up liquid but thats all so its not going to cost me too much - mums picking it up when she finishes work saves me going out and spending anymore money!

Went for a walk at the local coast to blow away the cobwebs and was techically free. On the way home we stopped to look in a showhome on the estate we hope our next house will be on- not for at least 5 years mind but hey we can dream. Looking round these lovely homes keeps me motivated to keep to my budget and keep overpaying on our mortgage to enable us to move to one of these houses sooner.

I did a freezer inventory and will focus on making meals from what is in there rather than buying more stuff.

In a while I am going to rejoin a local slimming club- I know, I know, as a slimming consultant myself I shouldn't have a problem but I haven't managed to shift what I gained at Xmas and need to go to a group to focus me. And if I have to buy the next size up of clothes that would cost me a lot more to replace my wardrobe than to pay club fees till I shed the excess pounds.

I copied Lookingahead's idea about having a pamper session and have just got out of the bath and cut my toenails. I will shortly apply body lotion and paint my nails.

I bought a book from ebay called Your Money or Your Life- not the Alvin Hall one, one by Joe Dominguez. It's really giving me food for thought about the bigger picture of personal finance and how I want to spend my life... would recommend other DFW's read it!

Not a very DFW day at all for me. We took friends out to lunch which cost £60, but they did help us with our conservatory roof & saved us hundreds so its more than reasonable. We were so late back that i missed opening time at ASDA & had to buy milk, mayonaise & sausages from tesco express ( DS2 has SATs all week & beleives protein will help him - I guess if he thinks it will then it will)
PH car stilled not fixed so we are driving on petrol, which costs a fortune & it will need refilling tomorrow.
Herb garden planted yerday loooks nice & happy after the rain i guess.
House looks like it has never been cleaned despite spending all day SAturday on it, which is what happens if you leave 2 teenage boys home all day i guess. Ah,well.

    Tomorrow will be better

I've not spent any money at all today as I've been at home trying to get some work done. More importantly though, I've taken all of my cards out of my purse and put them somewhere where its a real effort, needing a ladder (!), to get them down and I'm taking only the money that is in my purse to work with me this week and seeing how it goes. Fortunately I have two lunch meetings this week so won't be tempted to go out and buy things at lunch time!

Shimmied out to Spar and bought a bag of lettuce (for lunches for work this week), 8 Linda McCartney sausages and a pizza for 99p each. Not strictly MS or Fatfree Wannabe, but have a bonkers week ahead and at least will have something in the freezer for quick dinners should the need arise. Still cheaper than take-away on the way home! And if the need doesn't - wahey! they're all frozen (not the lettuce!) and will last!
