Hi,
I have read threads on here loads and hope that someone may be able to help.
I bought a bugaboo in June last year and yesterday the frame broke injuring my 1 year old son. The frame locking mechanism broke causing my son to be hit in the face by the frame and he has a large bump to the face and bruises. I have spoken to the shop where I purchased the pram and they said as it is in warranty they will have it repaired. I may be being unreasonable but I would never use that pram again. This is not the first incident as after only having it for a week the brake broke, then after 6 months the seat unit broke which I had a repair and then a replacement chasis. Do I have any rights??? Can I request a refund minus fair usage???? Do I have to accept a repair???
Any help would be very welcome and gratefully received. Has anyone had a similar problem?
Samantha

I'm pretty sure it's up to the manufacturer wether or not they refund or repair(usually what's cheapest for them) you don't get a say I'm afraid.
Hope your wee boy is OK0 -
Battered and bruised, was lucky as pram nearly hit the floor and it would of smashed his face off the concrete. My son had a bad night sleep last night as his face must really hurt, it looks much worse today. I am so mad as I spent a lot on a pram so it would last and keep him safe.
I will just have to buy a new pram, I could never use the bugaboo again even if they replaced with a new one!
Thanks for the reply

I think if you tell them that the pram injured your son when it broke, they may well give you a refund (in the hope that you won't pursue a claim against them).0

I have read other threads and just want to point out that under no circumstances do I want compensation( I know you don't think that but its just I don't want to give the wrong impression).
I would like a refund minus a fair usage charge which I deem to be fair. I am just not sure how to go about it, the store I bought it from have not been much help!Debts £3000.00 Paid off £0.00

hi
i hope your little one is feeling a bit better today
as you have previously had problems with the pram already i would personaly contact bugaboo too
http://www.bugaboo.com/
i would outline what has already happened brakes, seat unit ect and that you dont expect such an expensive product to fail this much in such a short ammount of time.
i would also take some pics of your little mans face and send them with the email, i know you are dealing with the store but i think bgaboo should know about the defects with the pram and the fact that there product has injured an infant. like you have said you are not out for compo but im in the same boat as you i would not like to use the pram again even if it was repaired for fear of it failing again
i hope you get a good outcome from the shop and atleast an appology from bugaboo
and i hope your little one is ok0 -
just found there contact page
it dose not give an option to upload photos but im sure they will reply to you via email then you should be able to go from there,
http://www.bugaboo.com/uk/en/contact
i have also just seen your last post saying the store is not being very helpful i would also point this out to them (bugaboo) name the store and say that they do not seem to be showing good customer service skills for bugaboo when thigs do unfortunaly go wrong on more than one occasion
again all the best0 -
Hi,
Thanks for that, I will email them in the morning. As for my son he is still bruised but happier in himself. I tried to take him out in his other pram this afternoon and he was not for getting in so don't think he has forgotten yet. I hope that bugaboo sort this quickly, I don't want to be sending letters for the next few months to get nowhere.Debts £3000.00 Paid off £0.00

glad he is feeling a little better today
i thought that him not wanting to get in a pushchair would be a problem its like if something happens to us the next time we are weary
hopefuly bbugaboo will resolve this quickly for you if they drag there feet give them a gentle reminder of the consume goods act
that the item is not fit for purpose made known and that the fact you have already had to have several repairs done in such a short space of time and quite frankly you have no faith in the pushchair after all the problems you have had with it
hope u get it sorted out soon0 -
So do I, its just that when the problems happened earlier in the year they were reluctant to provide new frame! Took nearly a month of 4 letters and several phone calls and creating a scene in store.Creating a scene in store always seems to work, not nice to do but sometimes it is the only way! Hopefully they will sort it quickly and I am just be unnecessarily skeptical!
I'll try him again tomorrow with pram, not going to push it. He is normally so placid, but he had a major tantrum when I tried to put him in pram I was shocked. I really didn't think he had it in him. I suppose you don't think it will affect them the way it does with older kids when they hurt themselves.Debts £3000.00 Paid off £0.00
