Tixy - it is an established group but now having looked at the membership fee of £575 for the year and a commitment from me to attend every Friday or send a sub (not possible am a sole trader with no staff) then I don't think that I will be bothering as I cannot afford it. Anyway I shall be networking with 650 people on Wednesday:cool: (I havent got 650 business cards though or have I?

Afternoon all...I know its not really the afternoon, it just feels like it as I have returned from a breakfast meeting which was interesting to say the least - now then do I join BNI in the hope that i eventually get some referrals?

I have attended BNI & found it very restrictive....you have to go ( they don`t like it if you miss a meeting!!!) usually at some obscenely early hour for a breakfast meeting!!

I felt it was a lot of `hot air` & small business people who thought they were more important than they were & very opinionated too!!

I got a few referrals but I guess much depends on the attendees & how well you get on with them.

Personally I found the local Ladies` Chamber of Commerce & Women in Business lunches / events far more productive....and enjoyable too. Btw I was in Sheffield so I am not sure if they have them in your area but well worth getting involved if you don`t already.

    Lets have a game

Will the bins in my street get emptied for the first time in 4 weeks, tomorrow?

1 - or am I in the 5% in Leeds that might, possibly, could be ?

2 - or tough , no councellors live in your street, and you are at the end of the round?

I saw on Look North that the bin men are on strike up there ! Are`nt there supposed to be private collectors out?

I`d be tempted to burn the `burnable` rubbish in the garden (if you have one) as a protest!!

    I hope they collect tomorrow.

    Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

    Kind wishes
    P
