I remember their first TV with a remote control, prior to that it was one of those dials on the back to change the channel. I also remember a video with a remote control that was attached to the video with a wire :rotfl:

:rotfl::rotfl:Totally remeber the romote with the wire - it didn't reach anywhere near close to the sofa!

That said I certainly wasn't at any parties in 1976, in fact I guess 1979 was the first party I attended and even then I'd have needed the cake liquidised!

I think nicca might be closer to me in age. Anyway everyone says I look a lot older than I am :(

I think it was perhaps my parents who were partying in '76... I soon put a stop to that in '77 though ;)

And either I look old or my friend looks very young - she was ID'ed in the Co-op this weekend. I can't say that's happened to me for a very, very, very long time! I was most bemused!

Good evening all, enjoying the luvverly snow are we?NOT! I think we have had our fair share of it this winter so stop messing about you up there in the Met Office, let's have spring because I'm bored with this!

Safe trip Horace, even if it is only to the hospital. Good luck with the washing machine Numpty, perhaps redesigning your kitchen will keep you out of mischief.

Solvent, Nic, Tixy, MF etc have a good evening. Also Lula and Rog wherever they may be.

I have been glued to the tv tonight, first countryfile then the antiques roadshow and I would have given my eye teeth for the 15th Century silver spoon and the wine glass from 1750 which was worth £6K:eek: and then I have been watching ski cross which is fast, furious, dangerous and looks like fun at the olympics:D

Me too, Nargle, a bit of sunshine and marginally warmer temperatures would be great, our road is like a bloomin' skating rink again :mad:
Lula is still around but I think life is getting in the way for her at the moment. Missing Rog though, hope he's OK:(.

Horace - with you on the spoon and the glass on the Antiques Roadshow, I also loved the jewellery but our TV reception kept cutting out and missed the value on them - don't suppose you can remember, can you? Otherwise will have to watch on the iPlayer... Ski cross is good but didn't watch it this evening, watched a really interesting programme on BBC4 about the Indian hill railways - not half as boring as it sounds, honest :D.
:) The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time :)

I love BBC4 for it's documentaries! Aren't the Indian Hill railways steam? And heading through some fantastic scenery I'd imagine! I might have to look that up on iplayer. But not tonight!
    Night all :)

    Morning everyone ... :)

    Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

    Kind wishes
    P
