Our feathered ladies both produced eggs today, Solvent, I am still waiting for them to start moulting and for egg production to cease, but it hasn't happened yet.

They must be happy then, Nargle, that's good to hear. I'm thinking about getting a couple of feathered ladies myself .... been in my mind for a while - great slug killers apparently!!!

    Hope everyone OK

    Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

    Kind wishes
    P

Solvent - chickens are fantastic pets but they totally mess up your garden - everything will be ripped to shreds. Best if they are kept in just a section of the garden with fencing round so they can't get out and eat your lawn, your flowers, your veggies............there is a thread on the old style moneysaving forum called "hey let's keep chickens" - worth a read. Also the Omlet website (although their Eglus are a bit pricey).

Have a good evening all, trolls excluded.

Thanks for the info Nargle.... I know they are two-legged eating and digging machines so have a corner of the garden in mind already and a deep and high fence to keep the foxes and local cat population away from them... just have to persuade OH that fresh eggs and two happy chickens are worth the effort....... Will read the thread you recommend and have a look at the omlet website. Are your ladies ex-battery chicks?

Sorry to everyone else for waffling on about chickens, hope you're all well and goodnight from me :):)

Good morning all, and happy Valentines Day to all of us.

Solvent - no they are not ex-battery, but I know of people who have had a lot of success with rehoming battery chooks, and it gives them a sense of satisfaction having rescued them from what must be sheer hell of an existence.

Have a good day everyone - and Horace, stop charging around like a mad thing, just chill out and spoil yourself today, it's Sunday, a day of rest.
