Ah the lovely Merlin - lucky you Numpty

Its such a shame if people come on for advice and then find themselves being used as a pawn in an argument between other people, some of whom are clearly more interested in making a point than giving out good advice.
Some posters should carry a health warning.

At least we don't get many of them on MSE - though I'm sure we could all name a couple ;)

In other issues I wonder if MSE (well Fermi or Mrs T) should lock the standard template letters thread. I've noticed people posting questions on there and them not being spotted and answered. Also people appear to be confusing it with never-in-doubts thread. Don't want anyone to think they are being ignored when they ask for help.
Now its a sticky it might be better if its just for templates and locked and if we want to add a new template we could just pm it to them:confused:.

Might be an idea. I only stuck it as a temporary measure, since I keep getting sidetracked in any effort to do something more permanent. :o

NM

Maybe you could sort out a pre-recorded message ready to play to Merlin once they call....

NM is not able to take your call at this moment, as a reminder Mr Monkey has specifically requested all communication with him is in writing and your call today is in breach of this request. Mr Monkey will be reporting you for this continued harrasment.
As previously detailed Mr Monkey is currently making the repayments he can afford and can not afford to increase his monthly repayments as he is currently on benefits, which as you will be aware the government provides for basic living expenditure which do not include unsecured debt repayments. Mr Monkey is unable and unwilling to make any one off repayments against this debt as this would be unfair on his other creditors. Mr Monkey will not be bullied into taking action which would jeopadise his agreements with these other creditos.
Mr Monkey will be hanging up now please do not call again and please do not have a nice day.

Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle report.gif. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

Kind wishes
P
