    Good morning everyone!

Martin - I see it was a pumpkin and not a Dracula outfit after all, how wrong can you get? Did anyone else notice it was a full moon last night? Wicked!

Absolutely chucking it down here today, but what do you expect from November? Already have two bedraggled chickens and it's only 0845.

Went down to the Fens yesterday to see family, came back with ......

some green tomatoes for making chutney, some cooking apples, some homegrown runner beans, a Stollen cake for Christmas, 6 meat pies from the local butcher for our freezer, plus £20 each for me and OH and £10 for son , early Christmas prezzie from elderly relative who doesn't get out much. We had taken some Christmas prezzies down there that were too heavy to post. The elderly relative has a bargain whisky decanter (ebay) and a Freeview box (bargain from Lula's favourite shop , the one that begins with T...) so he'll be well sorted for his entertainment. Oh and we were fed royally by my family so didn't have to buy and cook anything yesterday. Trouble is, it costs us about 50-60 quid in petrol to get down there and back, so we don't do the trip that often.....

Ah well, have a good if rainy day everyone! (Including Blondieliz - don't you start thinking that just because you stuck your head out of lurkdom once that you can stay hidden!)

    Morning all,

'tis a jama day in this house.

Hate to be a pedant Nargle , but full moon is actually tonight at about 11.23pm ( I have a lunar bar ;))

Lashings of wet & wind out there today so the castle door stays firmly closed & the drawbridge is up in Lulaville :D

    Afternoon all

Got a rude awakening this morning at around 8am with wind and rain..didnt help because I didnt get much sleep last night thanks to stupid morons letting off loud fireworks until 1am (each year I pray that they will seriously burn themselves:eek:). Eventually got up at 10am and went to get the washing in that was partly dry yesterday so left it on the line and brought it in soaking wet - it shall go out again in a while as the sun is out. The weather was bad as the rain came onto the balcony and my balcony usually stays dry whatever the weather.

Have done a bit of tidying up - call it work in progress.

Happy All Saints Day peeps. Yes, it is definitely a full moon tonight, last night was only partial.
  • afternoon all thought i might make a christmas cake today while the weather is apsolutely appauling but cant decide on a recipe anybody got a good tried and tested one they use all the time? It's alright having all these cookery books but i can never decide which one to try :xmassmile

Bump from page 2 everyone.....well, the moon round our way looked pretty full to me! :p

Anyway, Christmas cakes - I just do a general fruit cake recipe but soak the fruit in tea and brandy for a while beforehand, and add things like ground almonds, glace cherries, sometimes bits of marzipan etc etc. I think on the old style moneysaving thread there is a collection of recipes somewhere, might be worth a look, or posting a new thread "Christmas cake suggestions" ....... Of course the really organised will have had their cake done since July. The same people who get up at 3am Christmas morning to put the turkey in the oven and put the sprouts on to boil......

The wet and wind has gone to be replaced by sun and wind.....chickens still look a bit bedraggled so had better ring Numpty's Save our Chickens hotline for suggestions....
