What to do with random tins of food?

Yep, if the tins aren't "blown" then the contents should be absolutely fine. I once found a huge tin of pineapple about five years past the "best before" date in the larder and there was nothing wrong with it at all. Those herbs might have lost some of their strength and the only way to tell is to use them. Nothing bad can happen except a very minor disappointment.0

Ok... I'll put them back in the cupboard and see if I can find some recipes next week that I can use the tins with!
The herbs all smell alright so I'll probably keep those too.... have doubles of everyone of them though!0 -

I cleaned out the larder to make way for some basics I needed and discovered that there are tins in there that go back outdated to 2007...
While looking for something else, I've just found an identical thread that you started in DecemberI'll merge this, so as not to have 2 identical threads open at once

The only problem with the herbs is that they may lose their taste. I remember in my parents' house the same herbs and spices were in the cupboard for 30 years, with no nasty experiences. I think the tins you have mentioned will be fine. Just have a good look at the tin to make sure the food (usually rhubarb or something acidic) hasn't eaten into the lining.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14
