I supported myself as well from a very young age. Everything.
That's why I help them as much as I can. Believe me they're struggling too. they are certainly learning to budget because they know I can't bail them out
Sorry it must have been the insurance that I read, which I see you are sorting out.
I couldnt belive the size of your gas and elecie bill, I have a rather large 3 bed house, and dont even pay half that ( and I am on a prepay meter which is more expencive) I pay £22 a month on electricity and £30-£35 on the gas (in winter, much less in summer) we dont even have a combi boiler yet. Oh the temptation!!
....DD2 is lurking online SSHahahaha
Well she should be sudying! Doesn't she know how much it costs to keep her there!
I do feel for you. A really close family friend is paying for hers to go to uni and it costs her a fortune and she doesn't earn a great deal!
I was always of the opinion that students had it easy, and maybe to a degree they do, but I really do feel for all you parents out there. Your all very special people and I hope your kids all realise it!0 -

DD1 gave us her car to sell :grinheart and sends what she can from her bursary. Awwwww.
DD2 is a disaster, but tries hard. She ran out of money completely this term and didn't have a penny. She had to filch halls breakfast to eat for lunch. She worked really hard at Easter though and is working from May 21st right through 'til Oct.de do-do-do, de dar-dar-dar0 -
My deal with my two is no bank loans or credit cards and I will support them as much as possible but they need to work to eke out that support, they both have old banger cars and pay their own expenses for them. They also have to pass all their modules because I am not paying for them to doss around. So far so good, maybe in 2 years I will be able to retire!
A-B I notice you have Sky and NTL in your SOA, can you get a package of cable TV phone and broadband that works out cheaper than your current providors?0 -

I am proud to report that we have just this evening negotiated three months sky for £40. We'll cancel after that and just have freesat.
I changed NTL last week. I lowered the BB speed to the basic and I can see absolutely no difference in speed at all!
... and I agree about a bit of academic pressure. Mine know that this is no picnic for us and are working hard so far. Fingers crossed.de do-do-do, de dar-dar-dar0 -
