GRR - will dig out the box and call back. He was very sweet though - and didn't make me feel TOO stupid!
Ghmn tonight - have just eaten 4 flapjacks and 2 muffins whilst on phone to said Vodafone man - thats not so good (but they were free!!;))Onward and upward - with the odd step to the side

Hi girls,
I a bit down at the mo so sorry if my grumpyness comes across!!!
I'm just so worried about our situ.
When Phillost his job in april he went from £40k to just under £12k in this temp job, they told him today as of next week he is no longer needed!! I know he was not bringing in much money but nothing, not sure what we can do.
Now i'm on £36k but as you all know have been made redundant with no payout but due to my garden leave i'll have my salary up until dec. However my salary still isn't covering everything and then what happens if i can't find a job for the same money or a job at all! Since Phil lost his job we have borrowed £2.2k off my nan and I've maxed out the creditcard to £1300 which i had paid off as part of my journey on here but due to what happened i had to use it to pay bills etc.
Me and OH are combining our debts and this is what there is: Nb not including his car finance as he is trying to get? rid, if he pays of £600 they will just take car back- hmmm where to find £600???
My car finance £6100 26.2%
Barclaycard £1300 13.9%
Cahoot £8803.21 17.9%
First direct loan £5329 11.9%
Halifax £6785 20.9%
Vanquis 1500 42%!!!
Nan £2200 0%
Over £32k!!!
I've tried to reduce what i can, phone bill, sky, looking at car insurance but most you need to pay a deposit upfront.
There are so many things we haven't done due to no money, cat's check ups, rabbits booster injections, not serviced my car so invalidate warranty etc.
I'm getting so down about this and don't know what to do. Done the snowball and going to do another SOA but up until know we have paid off our debts ourselves but Phil has paid his car finance, halifax or vanquish for a couple of months so getting fees added etc.
I'm sorry about the carpy post guys. Our plans to get our own house and start a family have been pushed way back now too and at the mo i'm struggling to see when things better. I have never been in this situ before.Be your own superhero :j0 -
Hi girls,

Hi Tilly, Don't worry about sounding down. You are in a worrying situation and you are intitled to feel some angst!
Have you considered a DMP with CCCA or payplan or whatever? I know it's not ideal as it will basically shoot your 'credit rating' down in flames but then so will not being able to pay them and accruing all those nasty charges...
Would it at least be worth talking it through with someone like that and seeing what your options are?
Or you could just do a 'self managed' DMP. Write to the loan/card people, explain the situation, offer token payments for 6 months and see how you go from there..
Don't let it get you too down hon
*hugs*
xx0 -
So sorry Tilly - I'm sending you lots of hugs.
I know it's easier said than done, but try not to panic.
Post a new SOA as soon as you can, but remember they can't take money which doesn't exist. As Laura says, perhaps look at what token payments you can make for the time being...
Don't give up, keep circulating your cv with agencies, scour the paper for jobs - something may be just round the corner.Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'

Hey Till - So sorry to hear you so down and frightened, love. I can't imagine how frustrated you and OH must feel about the situation, especially as you are both patently bright, capable people able to earn very good wages. As people have said to me recently, you can't take it personally. I know I'm preaching to the choir on this one but I hope you're not feeling victimised.
I don't know much about DMPs and all that stuff but I do know they seem to be a way of really getting a grip on things and seeing a way out. Obviously you have the three months to tide you over a bit but if your salary is not managing everything and you're really worried then someone like Payplan might be able to help. First stop might have to be CAB to see what they advise. In the meantime can OH at the very least look into JSA if his temp job is ending imminently. Can he look for temp placements out of town? I know travelling isn't ideal but perhaps it's a case of going where the work is?
Obviously I don't have a mortgage to pay but I do have rent and am very worried about my situation. I know I turned down a job last week and I hope that doesn't make me seem like I don't get the gravity of our situations - I really do. I've been feeling very lonely about my predicament lately - 4 weeks at home alone with the only real breaks being for agency appointments is pretty depressing. Hope you're OK anyway babe.
Watching the 9/11 stuff on TV right now. My old flatmate's brother in law was killed when the first plane hit - he worked on the floor directly in the path of the aircraft and although he was never found, they can only assume and hope he was killed instantly. He left a 2 year old daughter and his wife (my friend's older sister) was 3 months pregnant. Yesterday my friend and I watched the phone messages documentary. I thought it might be too hard for her but she was genuinely interested. Apparently her sister was once asked whether she wished she'd heard from her husband in the last few minutes and she said 'No. If I heard from him I'd just be angry he was wasting time talking to me when he could have been trying to save himself.'

Morning All, Day off today and got to do a bit more off the list - I am so determined that when we come back from holiday we are going to have a fresh start, that I only have 3 days left to complete list.
Tilly: I am so sorry to hear how grim things are for you and PhiI would suggest you contact CAB. Am pretty sure you should both be signing on(doubt you'll get anything until your garden leave experires) but you will be in the system then.
Car insurance is a pain but use Go Compare.com and find the best option for you, for a while it may be better to pay monthly although costs more.
Would also think about contacting CCCS, it will take couple of weeks to get appointment but they are wonderful. Big hugs coming your way.
OH has given me £40 to go and buy some clothes for holiday as having got skinny nothing fits. I hate buying clothes and am stuck in a style rut, I live in jeans and t shirts (practical and fit our life style) but am so bored. I do have some new jeans but don't know what to get!! I felt awful as it was so nice of him but I didn't seem very grateful. He instructed me to go today and show him when he got home!!Debt at start of DMP 1/6/09: £2942 - £1942
