Just gone back to Sky, but ITV not free???

Ok, just gone back to sky tv with a 6 month contract for family package for half price.

I have had a Freesat receiver but now just swapped it over and put my sky digibox back in. Set it all up and awaiting for the channels to appear.

Right, BBc is ok, but ITV and Channel 4 is asking me to call my subscriber for an upgrade.

Isnt ITV free anymore once you finish with sky??

Should be. Give them a ring, sounds like they've not put in the right card/set up the right details or something. :)
Mortgage overpayments since November 08: £32,500 - balance is now £81,200

Hope to be Mortgage free by 2015! (or maybe 2014 if the rates stay low.....)

Taking your card out will do no harm, give it a try.

yep, ITV goes off again. it says 'insert your viewing card' BBC is ok though.

it looks like you lose ITV and C4 when you stop subscribing to Sky

Is it an older box you're using? If it's still using old software, then it may well not show ITV and C4. You can try doing a force update.

My son has my FIL's old digibox and get's ITV and C4 fine.

Something worth noting is if you do a force update on a non subscribed box, BBC defaults to London and ITV to Central.
On a subscription box, once you put your card in, it'll change to your local region.

  • Just tried our old Sky card in my sons digibox.

BBC and ITV regions changed and Ch5 appeared on the EPG. When I removed the card, ITV was indeed blocked, requesting a valid card.

I had to do a force update to get ITV back. C4 was always there.

ive tried the force update which works as you say but it does not bring ITV back on. As again its says please insert your viewing card when i remove it.

Once your new subscription runs out, Sky may revert it to a FreesatFromSky card which means you can leave the card in.

Failing that, you'll have to remove the card, do the force update and leave it at that.
