Ok....the battery and charger are worth it.............OMG.....the russian charger is a 345v 9 pin plug the shape of a babushka wooden doll.........comes apart 11 times getting smaller all the time and ends up as a 2 pin scandinavian shaver socket.......and the battery is a non rechargable lithium/plutonium energy cell made from spent waste from chernoble........still must'nt grumble.........the battery has a half-life of 5000 years

That made me chuckle, the image I have in my head is mind boggling

Hey, don't panic, all is not lost!

Just got my 'phone this morning, and although it does have, IsiZulu, IsiXhosa, Sesotho and Afrikaans, it also has English - Phew!
So although mine is obviously a 'phone destined for the South African market the English T9 works fine.

It seems to be the luck of the draw as to which 'phone you will get

Thanks Happypig :T - hope you get your refund sorted.

For those who get a Russian 'phone and don't want the hassle of doing a refund Mobile2Cash are offering £6 for the 1208 at the moment, so as long as the cash back goes through you'll be in profit :D

Cheers for the heads up on Mobile2Cash, minimoneyme!

Phew, glad you got a handset with English T9. A couple of friends, who also ordered the handsets, have decided to not collect theirs from the PO, so I've no idea what they've been sent! A right ol' lottery! I've updated the OP again and will leave it at that now. ;)

Soz, got confused with a mental image of you in moonpigs borrowed cheesecloth shirt and denim shorts he had left over from his camping trip in the Isle of Man

In the words of Noel, I'm just a man with a fork in a world full of soup:rotfl:

Compensation? This is a mobile phone costing £5!

Yes, you are right. However a condition of buying the phone was buying £5 credit which I didn't want or need, so I spent £10. Prepaymania have taken themselves off Topcashback so who knows if they will pay the cashback. Sounds like there may be warranty problems too.

Received phone this morning having read all the horror stories. When I finally managed to get the battery compartment off, I installed the sim and battery and it all worked.
Having ascertained from my grand-daughter exactly what predictive text and T9 means it appears that the phone I received has T9, so all is well with the world. All I have to do now is learn how to send text messages.
Really can't complain about a phone for a fiver. Might even get the cashback but I'm not holding my breath.

No sign of my two phones yet (ordered Friday). Phoned PPM and they said "well they have been despatched and royal mail should be delivering them in the next few days" (this was Tuesday). I hope they are OK, they are for my kids who don't speak much Russian. I can ask where the toilets are, and for a vodka and coke please. I can also say "be careful the metro doors are closing". I doubt this is going to be enough with a completely Russian phone though ?

    :-))
