The only issue which I've just discovered - I don't seem to be able to locate the English T9 dictionary - so providing they don't use predictive, then it's all pretty straight forward.
I've contacted PPM regarding the T9 languages. Will post back when I have an answer! It does state on their page that it has English SMS dictionary option, so might be that I am missing something somewhere..
Thanks - neither Mum or my Aunt use predictive texting - they want to learn how to use the basic texting. Mum use to love her old Nokia brick got on fine with that think it was a 3310? She has never found a decent phone she can use/likes since. Will see if i can find this in town tomorrow to have a look at then plan to buy 2. They are both with tmobile so can just swap sim cards.Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.

I ordered one of these cheap phones from Prepaymania when it was a Daily Deal on eBay. Mine was a Motorola and was £4.99 inc p&p and came loaded with a £5 TMobile sim card. It was delivered within 2 days and was unlocked, so my son took it away to camp instead of using his good phone.
For what you get, they are a bargain.0 -
Does the credit ever expire, or do you simply need to make a call once every 180 days or so to preserve the account?0

I'm fuming! Just had a reply to my ticket with PPM, after discovering the handsets that I bought were intended for the CIS/Russian market, hence no T9. PPM have subsequently removed the T9 feature from their list of features. I still have the web page from last week open on my mac, unfortunately for them! I'd steer clear of this bunch of cowboys in the future! Just a word of warning. If you are happy to use Russian predictive text, then fine!
I will update the original post with this too, as likewise, the phone might be useless to others with T9 too.0 -
Is there any way you can update the software to give it an English T9?The View Belongs To Everyone0

Nope, I've spent all night looking! It has no PC connectivity being a basic handset, so it's not possible! Also, there is no warranty with these phones according to Nokia forums as they were never intended for use here.
I refuse to pay for return postage and am on the phone to OFT on my lovely English Nokia 5800 (courtesy of Pepsi) now.
I'm sorry to anyone who has bought one of these. This includes friends who will no doubt have the same problem I'm experiencing now. :mad:0 -

They can be used, but not for predictive text. They can only used multitap for texting. Also, the warranty will be void as it is not a phone manufacturered for the UK market.
I've posted on the Nokia support forums, contacted OFT (who have passed the issue on the Trading Standards) and am yet to get a reply from PPM.
OFT advise that you print off the webpage if you are looking for a refund. PrePayMania will have to refund AND pay the cost of return (OFT said they should arrange for collection) as the sale is in breach of the Sale of Goods Act 1979.
Good luck with it. I'll keep you posted of any progress.0
