O2 no signal near home so can't use but contract still stands?

My husband took out a contract with 02 for an i-phone, which still has about 6 months to run. There is no phone signal at our home or anywhere nearby - he'd have to drive about 10 mins before there's a signal. They however are saying that he must continue with the contract - he's got the price down a little, but it's still £30 something pounds a month. Is there anything we can do?

What has happened - did you have a good signal originally?
They won't let you out without a fight so long into the contract0 -
No, not after he's had it for 6 months. Why didn't he return it in the first 14 days-or have you moved house since buying it?No free lunch, and no free laptop

Both myself and my wife recently had contract phones with Orange, but we moved a couple of miles away, to where the signal was mainly poor. Fortunately the recent issue mentioned in another thread about price changes (that they went back on) meant we could get out of that contract early.
The first thing I said to my wife was that if she was going to go with another company, she should speak to friends and family first about what the signal was like in the area. We live in what would be classed as the countryside, although we're only a couple of miles away from urban areas.
If there has been an opportunity to sort this at the beginning of a contract, then you have no chance. Additionally, if you start a contract and your address has a good signal, and then you move to an area where it isn't as good, that is a decision you have taken - and in my opinion any mobile company would be spot on in holding you to the contract.
People should realise what they are signing instead of crying when it is too late.0 -
