By unplugged I mean disconnecting the telephone line, the phones are still plugged into the mains. I have changed channels from 1-8 with no luck, still have 9-13 to try (or 9-11 if Lee is correct) but can't see any difference so far.

As I said before - I cannot see this as a wireless interference problem since the base station and extensions are still generating the same radio fields if powered on !

What happens if you leave the telephone line plugged in but disconnect from the mains ?

There are BT engineering works nationally to upgrade all exchanges to 8mb. This is throwing some routers etc off and causing problems.

I'd suggest back to basics. Try connecting to the master BT socket with nothing else installed. Then check your router/PC is using up to date drivers and firmware. Then once you have a stable connection begin adding things back in like extra phones etc.
