Broadband Problem

I am struggling with my broadband connection. I "think" I have managed to narrow down the problem to an issue with a new set of telephones bought recently. If they're disconnected the connection works but if they are plugged in then it is very intermittent and is worse than a dial-up! Obviously I'll need to replace them, anyone looking for new dect phones lol?. Is there something I should be looking at when buying a telephone to prevent this happening again?

They are plugged in via a broadband filter I assume?0

Are you connecting wirelessly? If not and have microfilters in the correct places, the filter/s may be faultyThis site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

Hi,
By filters I assume you mean the dsl filter box into the phone line? Thats in place, I actually had one downstairs and one fitted on the upstairs extension and I have been using a wireless connection for 18 months without any problems it really does seem to be down to the new telephones, unplugged the connection is fine but with the phones connected virtually nothing!0 -
wireless router ?????????Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

as albertross has said
there is probably interferance between you router and your phones you mentioned DECT so i can assume they are cordless, Try changing the channel on the router to something else also how close is the base phone to the router ??0 -
Base phone is downstairs; router upstairs, I have a d-link g604t wireless router, how do you change channels, I know how to get to the admin panel, where do you find the channel?
Oh found it in cpanel does it matter which it is set to?0 -

When you say "unplugged the connection is fine" - are you talking MAINS unplugged or TELEPHONE line connection ?
If you are ONLY unplugging the line connection from the DECT base station into the wall socket (actually the microfilter), but leave it plugged into the mains and powered on, and this resolves the problem, I can't see it being wireless interference since the base station and extensions etc will be generating the same radio field as before.
To remove any "wireless interference" you would have to disconnect the DECT appliances from the mains. There are 10 types of people in the world. ‹(•¿•)›(11)A104.28S94.98O112.46N86.73D101.02(12)J130.63F126.76M134.38A200.98M156.30J95.56J102.85A175.93
