Deciphering cashback terms.

Hi All,

Just been looking round for a decent blackberry deal when my current contract expires and have seen a deal that I like the look of but just trying to get my head round the cash back deal.

These are the terms for the deal:

12 Month contract deal redemptions are completed in 3 stages after bills 4, 8 and 12.
18 Month contract deal redemptions are completed in 4 stages after bills 4, 8, 12, and 18.
24 Month contract deal redemptions are completed in 6 stages after bills 4, 8, 12, 16, 20 and 24.

Cashback or line rental refunds will be paid as per the schedule above, in equal stages throughout the course of your mobile phone contract. All claims should be received within the dates as specified in your welcome pack, together with any additional documentation as requested.

To make your first claim on any deal you must supply your first 4 airtime bills (or high quality facsimiles) together with a copy of the redemption voucher. This must be made within 60 days of receiving your 4th mobile phone bill. After this initial claim you must send in your next three qualifying mobile phone bills (or high quality facsimiles) and qualifying redemption voucher within 60 days for the next 2, 3 or 5 mobile phone cashback redemption periods depending on your mobile contract length.

All claims should be received within the time period as specified. Any claims received outside of these times will be considered null and void. In addition each bill must show that you have remained on the original, connected tariff.

Note: Your cashback redemption will be void if you move to a lower mobile phone tariff during the length of your current mobile phone contract you are claiming for.

These terms and conditions apply to all claims made after the 15th April 2009, for all deals, offers and claims from before this period, please refer to your welcome pack.

Redemptions sent by fax or email will not be acceptable and we will not be able to return any documents sent. We advise that all correspondence be sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery.

All cashback claims will be paid directly into your bank account as supplied at the time of ordering your mobile phone contract. These details cannot be changed, so please ensure that you supply us with the correct details when placing your order.

Here is my understanding of the above(I will be going for an 18 month deal):

18 Month contract deal redemptions are completed in 4 stages after bills 4, 8, 12, and 18.

Stage 1: Send bills 1,2,3 and 4 within 60 days of the 4th bill along with redemption voucher 1.

Stage 2: Send bills 5,6 and 7 within 60 days of the 8th bill along with redemption voucher 2.

Stage 3: Send bills 9,10 and 11 within 60 days of the 12th bill along with redemption voucher 3.

Stage 4: Send bills 13,14 and 15 within 60 days of the 18th bill along with redemption voucher 4.

This would mean that I do not need to send in bills 8,12 and 18.

Apologies for the long post...is my understanding correct or am I way off?:rotfl:

Thanks

Edit - Cant be phones4u/dialaphone. Is it phoneboxmobile.com?

Ok read your post properly, seems you have the right understanding but normally most cashback claim companies ask for latest bill, not multiple bills.

Although I would have thought - you need to send in

    Stage 1 - bills 1 to 4
    Stage 2 - bills 6,7,8
    Stage 3 - bills 10,11,12
    Stage 4 - bills 16,17, 18

So they make sure at end you have not changed/lowered your tariff throughout the contract. Most confusing.

These ts + cs seem designed to confuse. Presumably if you inadvertently send them the wrong bills it allows them to void the payment?

If you are going for this deal, write to them, explain that their ts + cs are confusing and ask them to reply stating exactly which bills they require at each stage of the claiming process. Make sure you get this info in writing before agreeing to the ts + cs.

Never used them myself, might be perfectly ok but you might want to try other retailers to see if you can get more simpliar terms and conditions - or do what Quentin says.

    Whats the phone deal?

Suggest you do a lot of research on here, the site and elsewhere before venturing into any cashback deal - is appears that you are a beginner. Would recommend reading some of this thread:-

The basic guide is important, but also my post no. 224 on page 12 is quite relevant.
