Thank You
Great to hear off someone who has owned an Ex Police car. I am beginning to think this may be the way to go, to get the newer model within my budget;)Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

Whilst in principle it sounds OK and I had a contact who managed the motor pool for derbysire constabulary. They experimented with Rover 820's I think it was. Basically after 80K miles the maintenance cost was proportional to mileage, same old things, brakes, dampers, discs and tyes etc. They kept one car over the years, it had done over 300k on the original engine but was too old to continue using, needed new interior/electrics etc.

To be honest the thought of everything and everyone that had been in the back of the car would be enough to put me off.:eek:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

Agreed, sickening thought with some of the low life that seem to spend much of their time in them...yuk..0 -
Watch Road Wars or similar and look at the abuse they are put through - yes they are usually repaired but what damage does grounding out at 30, speedbumps at 40, closing doors with cars etc do to other less obvious parts? Yes you can replace the suspension, but what about the frame?Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0

The ex-police V70 will be a great buy for you OP.
Just be prepared for some big bills when in for service and at the fuel pumps. You may even be lucky and get one with a spare wheel and at least one alloy thats not damaged. All the pannel gaps may even line up after it's been rebuilt so it may not whistle at motorway speeds. Once all the stickers have been pulled off you may not even know they were there.:rotfl:Without even mentioning they extra aerial, light bar and camera holes in the roof.
You go for it as many will agree it's very mse........................NOT.:rolleyes:Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

To be honest it is only a car...I couldn't really care less who has been in the back of it! How does anyone know who has lived in their houses previously, and what they may have been up to;)
I agree about the wear and tear though, that is one thing that initially put me off, but I keep thinking that they should have been maintained well enough?
I will keep thinking, I have got a few weeks till I get the money anyway:DUnless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

Most will only see a main dealer for warranty work, so will come without a dealer service history.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
As a PC, and seeing how some officers drive, in particular traffic officers, I wouldn't touch an ex-police car!0

redmel1621. Make sure you're not chasing registrations for the sake of getting a newer car with less spec that has been thrashed around by drivers who don't care because it's not their car. And it will probably be white so everybody will know it's ex police.
Buy a well looked after, well serviced, cherished car that already has 7 seats, even an ex company car. I don't mind high mileage if the cars ok, but I wouldn't consider the spaceship mileages of some of these ex police cars. And how many police or staff would consider an ex police car, I don't know any that would buy one.

On Road Wars last night, a traffic car was chasing some numpty over speed humps at 60 mph, now that is going to do serious damage to any car.:eek:0
