Is this ticket valid

I got a parking ticket issued by the local authority today. I was parked on yellow lines, however, the lines are broken and cannot be seen for most of their length.

I was always under the impression that if the lines are broken before the t-bar then any penalty is void

Wait for the experts but how would you know where the lines end? More photo's of the lines without car would help please.

Putting 2 and 2 together from those photos, I (and any reasonable person) would know where the lines are meant to extend to as the transverse mark is very clear to me and not far away at all. I fear any adjudicator would not be too sympathetic.

More info on transverse marks here on page 39: http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roads/tss/trafficsigns.pdf

Are you parked on the pavement as well?
Maybe that is an offence locally?

You could be right as the OP has not said what the offence was. A scan/photo of the ticket would clarify matters.

Scan of both sides of pcn would give the experts a chance to help you. They can't without it. If no scanner--mobile phone camera/digicam.

Not if parking is decriminalised or in one of the areas in London which allow partial pavement parking.

Really? Can you show me the legislation that says that? Fixed penalty from plod for obstruction maybe but where do the points come into it?
