ipod to my Home Stereo

I would like to connect up my new ipod Nano to my stereo (aux port) so that I can listen to my back catalogue without having to change CD's or dig out old copies etc. Also I would like to try and start downloading (legally) music files so I can cut down the cost of buying and storing cds. My girlfriend has a video ipod, so…

I connected a Creative Zen to the main stereo in exactly the above way, very disappointing result as the volume was way too low even when with Zen's volume set to max. Wonder if the iPod does any better.
