3's scrapping of 3mail not detrimental?

I found out on 25th Aug via an advisor on 3's live chat that they are scrapping their 3mail (email - geddit) service as of 1st Sept 2009.
Having kicked myself repeatedly for missing out on the chance to leave the sinking ship because of the removal of the "3 like home" service (you only get 30 days to tell them you want out), I thought this would be my ideal get-out.
I spoke to several advisors on the phone, all of whom told me that the loss of 3mail was not detrimental to me, therefore i would not be able to terminate my contract without paying the outstanding balance of my account. I repeatedly told them that saying it "isn't detrimental" is merely an opinion but they are having none of it & refuse to budge on the issue.
They also kept telling me that the service wasn't part of the telecommunications service & that they had checked with the regulatory body & they were acting within the law. Is this just BS designed to fob me off? Anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?

Never knew they had such a thing. And if they have it - its not part of any mobile contract so can't have a case. Its your choice to use it for free (to 1st Sep) and not an integral part of the contract.

Surely if it's included with a service, then it's removed, it's detrimental to me?
As you point out, it's "my choice" to use (or not to use) it. I can't if it's removed
